Yes, there are still some cultures where arranged marriages take place. I know a community where some of the families arrange marriages for their children, the couple meet for 10 minutes and then an engagement party awaits them immediately afterwards. The children know this is how it will work from when they are young, and thus are not surprised but just accept it, and live happy marriages.

I wonder if maybe this is not the best way since you always hear of these stories where people and get married immediately and then are married for many, many years.

Yes they do. In some countries it's still the most common way of finding a spouse.

I wonder if that would work in this country.

Some people. I have had a few co-workers who are from India, and they have arranged marriages. It's interesting to see because they go into it knowing that they have to work at creating love in the relationship. They seem to be very attentative to each other compared to a lot of couples. Of course, that's all outsider's impression.

Yes, there are still arranged marriages that are happening these days. Here in the Philippines, there are family firends that would have their children marry just to keep the bond strong. Also, there are rich people who would have their colleagues marry their children just to ensure that their wealth will not decrease.

No i don't still participate in arranged marriages, I didn't think that they were around anymore...I thought that they went out like a hundred years ago or something...now adays most people go out and date around and then whenever they find someone that they really like they start only dating them and after awhile if they start to fall in love they eventually get engaged and generally awhile after that they get married and start their own families and start having children and sometimes they live happily ever after!

It just may be best since the children already know then there is no pressure to find that right person.
