What Do You Do On Your Swing?

Wanda, My best friend and the wife of the owner of the shop I work in, was telling me yesterday that she has a nice swing set in her basement that is almost brand new, albeit old just from storage, that she would like to have set out in the field beyond where we are going to pave a parking lot.
Now some of you might know that I take care of my grand children, and that they have a play area with toys, books and a TV here in the shop. Anyway Wanda tells me that she thinks this will be wonderful for the kids in the spring. I agree completely.
I am bored today, as usually happens on Saturday's, and I got to thinking about how much I use to love to swing when I was a child. That thought lead me to remember a very nice romantic encounter in the swing on my mothers front porch as a young lady in my late teens. Whew, boy that lead to many other thoughts, including this discussion.
So what I want to know, is how do you swing? Do you have swing sets in your back yards? If you do, are they only for your children or do you indulge and go out and play yourself. Do you like to be pushed in the swing and do you still try and fly as high as you can. Do you have a swing on your porch? Or maybe you have had an adventure in a swing in your past. Come on ya'll share with me.

I'll save the silly part till last, but its coming, be warned.
I like to swing on swings, but now that i'm an adult its not by far as fun as it used to be when i was child! lol. My daughter has a blast on the swing, at mil's when we go to visit there once a year, they put a swing up there for her. And we go to the park in the summer time and she enjoys the swing the most at the park i think. at least she did last summer.
When we were at my moms, they have a swing on the patio, one of those adult swings, that you sit on and relax. She LOVED that, just to swing and swing and swing, we even napped on there a few times while we were there.
Now for the silly part... DUN DUN DNU!!
I'd LOVE to try out one of those SWINGS that you hook to the ceiling and strap yourself all in and then do the tee hee'ing!! lol. have you heard of one of those? I've added a picture for your viewing pleasure!!

We had a swing set in the back yard when I was a kid. When we moved, I was almost 10, our new yard didn't have space for a swingset, but my sister's new best friend across the street had one so she could swing (she was only 6.)
I used to try for height, but then I started getting motion sick so I could only swing for short times.
I remember one night back in my 20's when my former roommate & I went to a neighborhood park near where she had lived & we swung on the swing set. No jumping off these swings since they swung out over a steep drop!

Do you still get motion sickness? Thats really rough. I get sick from heights. I suppose that is vertigo. What ever it is it is not pleasant.

Middle ear problems are sometimes associated with vertigo also.

Hello Angel,
I used to love to swing, though I haven't in some time.
My grandparents used to have a four person wooden swing in their back yard. Some of my fondest childhood memories relate to that swing.
I also have terrific memories involving an old tire swing at a little swimming hole. Yup, that was great fun.
We don't have a swing where we live now. Though this discussion sure makes me long for one. 'Course, I suspect that our dogs would congregate around us if we had a swing. So, maybe that's not such a good idea. I would feel terrible if I accidentally kicked on our our furry, four-legged buddies.

Hello Luna :))) Of course we would not want to harm our four legged friends, I had a beagle once that love mom's old porch swing. He would even stand up and turn around and around while on it trying to get it to sway. If one of us were sitting and enjoying the swing he was in heaven swaying back and forth.

Unfortunately, we don't have one in our home or around the house. But we used to have one which was tied up on a big mango tree, we always go there every afternoon to swing and play almost everything under the tree's shade.
But now, I would walk my niece to a playground near to us just to enjoy the swing. I would push her slowly for a momentum, then let her do the swinging by swaying her feet in the air..

Growing up, I always had a swing set in the backyard, and I was on it as much as possible! I now live in an apartment building, so no swings in my backyard...BUT...there is a swing for my two daughters in my grandparent's back yard..in the very same spot that my childhood swing set was. Sometimes I'll sit on the swing and feel quite sentimental. When we visit my dad and Mommy#2, my Mommy #2 and I take my children to the town park where the kids roam around the jungle gyms and play on the slides...but mom and I are on the swings the whole time going up as far as we can.
Oh..before I leave, I must add a comment that first came to mind when I saw this post...I'll tell you that I have a swing in the bedroom, but I'm sure that you can come up with some great things on your own to do on that swing so I'll leave it at that..lol.

I use to swing on my swing set. I have also more than one swings. One is in basement; other is in our garden area and third is on upper most story of the building of our house. Our relatives and their children like to come to our home and they enjoy swinging. Swinging is charm exercise which the children and their parents also like very well.

I had a lovely experience a couple months ago. I drove by a park that didn't have playground equipment in the past, but now it does. A friend was with me. I said, "Let's go swing!" We did, and it was fun.
I haven't swung on a swing in many years. I've lost my "touch" so I couldn't go high, but it was fun being a kid again!

Joyce I bet it was fun. We need to do that as often as we get the chance to.
