The Bible

I am a Christian and I do believe in God. However, I am disturbed about the different translations of the Bible. From the original language to all the languages in the world. I think the bible is the main reason why there are so many religious groups sprouting all over the world. Since translations affect the real meaning of the passages on the original version of this book, how realiable can the be when it comes to our faith?

I agree with you. It is disturbing to see so many translations. No matter what there's only one Bible. I think it's an individual thing, whatever you believe in is what you will read.

Individuality is what makes us do our thing or believe in certain matters. Well, it is interesting to hear people, especially in my country debate about their beliefs in God using the Bible. They are reading passages that will support their statements and the other group will read another passage that will support their statement. This people have different and contrasting opinions and the irony is that they are reading one book to support their arguments. Well, i am kind of having guilt in my heart 'coz I believe in God and i feel like I am questioning Him through questioning the Bible.

I also am a Christian, however I am one who gratefully appreciates the, many different versions of the bible. because I have different versions that, I will read at the same time as well as a concordance, with a Greek and Hebrew dictionary. this allows me to search out what the spirit of the author of this great book has to say, about anything and everything. because we live in a time that cultures and opinions can so easily lead us astray, from the truth.
as Jesus said, in Matthew 4:4 Man doesn't live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.
this requires a personal and very real relationship with God, threw his Son our Savior Jesus Christ. If you have a personal relationship with God threw Christ and are truly saved then you know his voice and, know that just a word from him makes more difference in your life, than anything else.
I am not discouraged by the different translations, rather encouraged that I have more sources, and can spend more time with him in studding his written word as well as his personal words to me.
