One of my dogs isn't fixed yet but I think I'm too late(she was due to go this month) but I notice my neighbors dog(he looks like a lab hes beautiful all black pretty coat the works) been breaking in my yard chasing and jumping on my dog(shes mix with chow and german sherpard). Now the question is how will I know if shes knocked up? I did notice that her nipples are a little bigger then before and fills a little hard. Is that a sign and what are other signs that she'll show if she is pregnant?
PLEASE HELP ME I'M WILLING TO ACCEPT ANY ADVISE THAT IS GIVING. THANK YOU SO MUCH IN ADVANCE.
PS if she is what do I need to do???

How to tell if she's knocked up...lol I love that lol I think that I have heard before that you can feel around on their stomach and if you feel little knots on her stomach that may be an indication that she is pregnant(dont know why unless thats her puppies head)and another way to find out is if she is pregnant is if she suddenly starts to get a little grouchy because if she is I think have also heard that that can be a early indictation that she is pregnant because of all of the changes going on with her body!

Well, technically you aren't to late. Even if she is pregnant, she can still be spayed if you do it fairly immediately. There is usually a slightly higher fee for this, but if you aren't wanting to deal with a litter of puppies, I suggest you go ahead and contact your veterinarian, tell them the issue, and they can advise you from there.

The first thing that I noticed about my female was that she would reject the males once she was pregnant. She would vehemently reject any attention.
Unless she is along quite far in gestation, she shouldn't be showing bag signs yet.
What I found out from a vet 28 years ago, that a litter can have many sires!I did not know that a female in "heat" will mate with more than one "male" and can have a mixed litter. And it happened to me! I had a registered shepherd, that I had completely fenced (or so I thot) when a "bulldog" broke in, followed shortly thereafter by a Lab. I had 9 puppies, some shepherd/bulldog, some Lab/shepherd.

So they can have more then 1 daddy and carry different breeds? WOW, I'm learning something know. I thought once the get them some and thats that. How long can they be in heat?

The length of heat is just as variable as it is in us ladies. Each dog is individual. Sadly, enough my shepherd attracted nefarius males for up to two weeks. Good luck!

I'm sure your vet will know if she's knocked up.... http://www.pets.ca/articles/article-dogpregnant.htm
"Most experienced veterinarians can determine pregnancy by simply feeling the dog’s abdomen during a certain a window of time—about 20-30 days after conception. During this time period, there is uterine swelling around the placental sites that feels like firm and discrete lumps. After 30 days, the uterine swelling is more diffuse and it is difficult to distinguish the gravid uterus from the feel of the intestinal tract. Dogs that are very large or obese may be difficult to examine in any stage, however."

I hate to say this but yes I believe you're a bit too late. When a female dog comes in heat, it drives the males absolutly crazy that they won't even eat for days on end until they get to her or she goes out of heat. Once a male dog gets near a female dog in heat without supervision then one has to assume that they mated. If you don't want the puppies that she's most likely carrying then you can take her to the vet and have her fixed and have an abortion. I don't like the latter but sometimes it is the best thing to do when there are so many other unwanted dogs already out there. OR you can let her have the puppies and you keep them yourself, which is what I seriously doubt you'll want to do so the only other option is to take her to the vet and abort the puppies and have her fixed.

Thank you for that advise but I don't beleive in abortions and I already talked it over with my hubby and we did discuss the outcome of this thing and if she is she's going to have them and they will be taking care of until we can find them a good home and I mean a good home. And you never lied because my neighbors dog was trying everything in his power to get in my yard and in my house after her so bad the neighbors had to put him in there basement to keep him away from her. And I told them I think we're both to late because when I notice him in the yard he was already on her and then when I tried to get him off of her he launched at me and then my dog ran behind my shed and he went chasing right after her and we couldn't get neither one of them from behind until I started playing with my son's basketball. Until then he came out but went back as soon as I tried to put the lesh on him thats why I really think shes baking some offsprings. Once again catsanddogs thank you so much

You're very welcome. I just wish I could be of more help. I'm very happy to hear you don't believe in abortions for I'm very pro life as well. Who knows? There may be a reason for her to have those puppies. Maybe one of them will serve a great deed when they grow up? Such as wake their master in a buring house? One can never know, right?

well, you can fairly tell if she's pregnant her tummy is gonna grow big. If you are not sure you can bring her to the vet he/she can tell if it's pregnant or do an utlrasound if it is really in doubt.
Puppies are so cute! Why don't you sell them or give them away. Spay her when she delivers.

You can be almost certain thats shes pregnant especially if she allowed him to mount her. She will have her puppies in 3 months so you won't have to wait very long. She stomach will soon protrude and you will know for certain shes pregnant. There is nothing you need to do except feed her well, because she will be eating for 6 or 8. Congratulations on being an expectant dog owner! God bless!

I think you should consult a vet and ask what he/she thinks you should do. The best thing IMO would be to spay her immediately, regardless if she's pregnant or not. There is a huge dog overpopulation problem as it is. There's no need to add to the problem, especially not if the female is unproven in the show ring or doesn't have other titles on her, hasn't had all the health-tests required for breeding, and happens to be another breed than the male. I don't know the breed of your female, but there are plenty of mixed breeds in the shelters as it is and many are being put to sleep simply because there are just not enough people wanting a dog.

Most vets will fix her - and ask you if you want to know. I had the same situation with my lab many years ago. She had a litter of 13 puppies - we had just found homes for all of them and had her scheduled to go in - when she went into heat again. For her health (and my sanity) we went ahead and had her spayed and asked the vet not to tell us if she was pregnant.
