Hello jason1287,
The concept of weight is for humans, not for GOD. even for humans, weight is a relative thing. I can lift a 1000 ton stone...?
GOD is free from human traits. So, I would submit that this question has no genuine basis. what do you think?

i agree that logic is a human trait, and that god acts outside the realms of logic. and it is for that reason that the idea of god makes no sense to modern science.

its funny, because when we think of it that way, god is too a product of the human mind!

I think that the proper, logical answer to your question is that there is not, nor can there be, a stone that God cannot lift. That doesn't imply that God is less than omnipotent because the very question you ask is tacitly based on the assumption that God is man-like and therefore has limitations. The statement 'God is like man' is logically different from the statement 'Man is made in the image of God'. A portrait may be said to be like the sitter but you would hardly say that the sitter is like a photograph, painting or sculpture.

If God is omnipotent he has all potencies, thus he has both finite and infinite potencies. Thus with his infinite potencies he could create a stone so heavy he would be unable to lift it with his finite potencies. Therefore the answer is yes.
A better question might be can God make a round square, i.e. can he do the logically impossible. To answer this one must understand what logic is. The first question to ask then, is this.
Is logic about a way we think or about the way things are related in the world?

Since the question falls outside of logical reasoning I would not like to try to answer. It's in a way similar to Can God sin? Can God exist and not exist at the same time?
Anyway, good to read different responses.
