I didn't have one best friend thru childhood.
I do know somewhat where most of my friends are. One is in the Philly area, on disablity. One is working in the western U.S. with butterflies. One is back in town, with her husband, who is a youth minister at a nearby (out on the lake) church.
I see the younger sister of the one working with butterflies because she is one of my vets. I see the mother, younger sister & the friend who is at the church because her mother is living where my mother does, and is also in the health care center.
Now, I'm still in touch with a friend I've had since 2nd grade, but while we were friends, we were hardly "best" friends. I actually talk to her more than the others since we email.

That is awesome to hear. Sorry to hear about the disability of the one, how do you work with butterflies with the other, and a youth minister... I thought of becoming one in my younger years.
E-mail is a great way to keep in touch with everyone.

Yes! We still do communicate though not uch that often. You know what funny things about us? We both always have the same problems whenever we meet. We will just text each otehr whenever we need somebody to listen to. Then we will bid goodbye and see each other again whenever we have problems again....And we love it the way we understand each othet. No reservations, we can just be ourselves and smile whenever we meet.

That is just so great to hear that you two still are in touch with each other and still have the same problems (well not great that you have problems but you know what i mean there).
That is just awesome that you can be yourself and not have to think about how the other will judge you.
Great post. I loved it. Thanks

I did try to keep in contact with my friends, but sadly as time moved on they found new lives, new loves and even moved away, so it was difficult to keep track on them, I have tried to contact them through friends united etc, but sadly no luck. I guess they want to get on with their lives and I respect them for that. Sometimes it's best to keep the memories of the friendship as time goes on and meeting someone again after so many years may actually be very strange and too much time would have passed for the friendship to continue.

I do still keep in touch with both of my "first" friends. One has moved away on me twice but always manages to come back LOL. I have been friends with both for 25 years and hope to have another 25+ years :) Good luck on finding your friend

I am lucky in life to be blessed with many good friends but yes I am still in touch with my very first friend that I met on the very first day at primary school. We stay in contact by mail and phone a few times a year now as she has married and moved away but I did manage to get to see her for a weekend last May. We are both in our forties now so has lasted well. We had one fight over a boy at school but someone said a teacher was coming so we just stopped and walked home together. I hope you do manage to eventually find your best friend you will have so much catching up to do!

I have two very good friends and we still keep in touch alot! But since I moved so far away now it is pretty hard to still hang out, I go there every month and we hang out but its just not as it used to be. But atleast we still keep in touch, I am its kind of hard NOT to keep in touch with all these quick messenging softwares and email and mobile phones etc.
If you want to look for your friend why not try facebook.com or hi5 or some other social networking site. I suggest facebook since thats the most known one I know of.
Hope you find him best of luck see ya!

Great that you are still in touch. I have tried them all and no luck it is like he and his family just disappeared.
I even remember his old phone number and dialed it and it was out of service... I know where he went to high school and college so I even tried classmates.com but no mas... where the heck is this guy?

No...unfortunately not. My longest standing friend is a gal pal of over 20 years...but she is not a childhood friend. My hubby is also a great friend...and we have been together for going on 18 years but we did not know each other when we were younger.
Interesting that you should post this discussion. I was talking to another friend and she was saying how much she envies people who have been able to stay in touch with friends they grew up with. Would be nice to have that.
Taking walks down memory lane or taking the way-back machine with those who knew us 'when' is something I would enjoy too. I have been looking into the site 'classmates.com' or something to that effect. My old school is listed on that site...and maybe your friend might be able to be accessed there.
Just a thought. Good luck with your search.
Cheers,
Raia

Yeah I still keep in touch with them. I have this friend since kindergarten and we are always together when we were kids. I'm happy that she's always with me. I hope you'll be able to find your friends its so nice if you can still keep in touch with them.
