I am from Davao City where durian is known to come from. Well, we have several durian trees before and we enjoyed the taste and its smell very much since then. Many would say that durian has a bad smell. But for me, if you're used to it, you will actually find it a very nice aroma.

For me, of course is the fruit of the king in my country, durian. No fruit will take its place because of its unique aromatic smell and sweetly creamy flesh. You could get the smell of it from the distance as the fragrance of it is quite pungent. It is so tasty that I always couldn’t refrain from taking it when it is freshly opened. I even could have it as my meals for the whole. I like only those good quality durian like D24 or Red Prawn etc, yummy...
Drink some salty cold water or to take some mangosteens could get rid of the heat after having durian. Don’t scare of the smell of durian, once you have tried it, surely you will get stick to it and enjoy the lovely scent of it.

I used to hate durians because of the offensive smell. Well, not anymore. I learned to eat durian in 2002 when I was in Bangkok. I started with durian chips that tasted like roasted cashew nuts. I realized that durians are not that bad after all. In fact, they're the bests fruit I have ever tasted. Then I learned to love the fresh one and didn't even realize it smelled. Actually, once you get used to the smell, you will love it. I even came to the point that jackfruit smelled like a poop. Oh, how I miss durian.
