Why do people forget what day it is? Does it ever happen to you?

Yesterday I started a discussion on the Superbowl asking if anyone was going to watch it "today". For some reason I thought for sure yesterday was Sunday. Since I work only on Saturday and actually had my uniform on when I was writing I don't know what the heck I was thinking! It wasn't until I punched in at work and saw the date that I realized it wasn't Sunday after all and immediately thought about my discussion and started to laugh out loud! Now my week is going to be even longer than they have been feeling they are! What is it that makes us forget what day it is? Do you ever forget the day or even the date. Is it that we have so much on our minds?

LOL - I didn't respond to that discussion but did read it in my email (I didn't respond to anything on mylot yesterday) and thought you were lossing it along with me.
I do that all the time these days not sure if it's age or the fact that I'm working from home 7 days a week they all seem pretty much the same to me.
I check the day on my computer alot - I'll be in big trouble if it ever gets messed up.

It happens to me all the time! I, too, work at home and I think that has a lot to do with it, plus I work using dates that are a day or two behind, so that confuses me as well. I'm somewhat ashamed to say what method I use to remember what day of the week it is. What I do is try to remember what I watched on TV already this week. If I saw NCIS last night, then this must be Wednesday (since NCIS is on Tuesday nights). With all the reruns and the crazy TV schedules lately, though, that has just added to my confusion! Anyway, don't worry. You're not going crazy and you're certainly not alone!

I used to be able to use tv programs to know what day it was but I've since stopped watching those programs and basically watch reruns at night so that doesn't help me. Thanks for letting me know I'm not alone....lolol....

That could be a very serious problem for me. I have too many things to juggle, I might end up going to the wrong place at the wrong time. You must have felt really funny when you realized what you did. I did not even catch it, at least not thoroughly. I think I assumed, as I was answering late at night, that it was after midnight for you.

I sometimes also forget what day it is. I think that it is due to the stress that I have been experiencing. I always worry that I would overslept since I was a kid and even worse now that I am working because I am paid by the hour. I always wake up suddenly in the middle of the night on saturdays to set my alarm clock even though I do not work on sunday. And when I wake up at 8 on sunday, I rush to dress up. How silly is that?

I get mornings like that when I wake up, I would lie in bed and have to think what day it is lol, does my son have to go to school today? Am I working today? I think its because I have just had a great nights sleep that it happens to me.... Well thats my excuse .... :-)

I wake up alot and think its a different day then it really is. I'm not sure why this happens but some days it sends me into a panic. Last week for example I jumped out of bed, got ready to go to the drs. My appointment was for 9am Thursday morning. I was running late as it was, go to get in the van to leave and realize that its only Wednesday. So I hurried my butt off for nothing lol

I fall asleep and nap once in awhile and startle myself thinking it is a new day.

I so know the feeling. I've been thinking I have a doctors appointment next Tuesday and even told people I can't do whatever because of it. I realized yesterday that the appointment is Thursday but I'm willing to bet I get ready for it Tuesday because I've been thinking that's when it is for so long.

I think it happens as such. Its a natural tendency that we forget small thins in life.even our memory is prioritised and mostly the importance of day doesnt come from what day it is and so occassionally when it happens to be important,we tend to forget it.

It happens to me all the time and it's funny because I have a school going child who has a different uniform two days a week...so you'd think I'd remember which day it is...but I don't! It's probably because I do the laundry regularly and my son takes care of his own stuff (he's 7). And the rest of the day is the same all week (for me).
Weekends....I don't forget...lol and I wish it would end quickly...two kids at home makes too much work for me.
Now I have a calendar stuck to my fridge and I cross off each day so that I know which day it is.

I get my days mixed up all the time! LOL not because i have so much on my mind (though I always do have plenty on my plate but I'm use to it)..I am forever getting mixed up because I dont work....I'm home every day and my days just sort of blend together...What REALLY messes me up though is when my husband and kids have a long weekend...That really throws me off balance...

I think not working is what confuses me too. Not having kids I can't tell by their long weekends or vacations.

I think we've all done that before. LOL I know I have. I babysit in my home and if the kids don't come one day during the week because of a holiday or something it messes me all up and I'll be thinking that one day is another day. And this past Friday my husband was home from work because they didn't have to work that day and that messed me up too cause I wasn't used to him being home during the week during the day so I felt like it was Saturday instead of Friday. I guess we just have too many things on our minds and it just slips sometimes.

I lose track of what day it is at least a couple times a month. I think people lose track of what day it is if there schedule is different from the usualy or if they dont do anything for a couple of days. Messes with your head sometimes when you coop yourself in your house for a couple days.

I sometimes forget what day it is, especially if I worked a lot the day before, or if there is an unexpected holiday. Most of the time, it is the date, especially when I am expecting my pension check and think that it is close to that time, but it is not. And sometimes I have plans to go somewhere, but then I forgot that it was today, and the next day, I remember that I have an appointment on that date. I t does make it confusing and perhaps I should have signs all over my house, or buy myself a day planner if I do not forget to write in it.
I do think having to do so much could be the factor, and having so much to do.

I did catch that one, ctry, but you shouldn't feel bad. It happens to me all the time. I got up this morning with no clue as to which day it was. I really freaked out when I turned on the TV and couldn't find a familiar show -until I tuned to PBS. Most mornings when I'm confused I can tell the day by whatever's on TV.

Sometimes I do check the tv because it says it in the corner of the screen. Then there are the times I don't think of that so I walk around my apartment wondering how I'm going to find out without someone thinking I've lost my mind.

Hi ctrymuziklvr, This often happens to me, and I put it down to the fact that I've retired. After reading your discussion, I realize that it was happening long before that. You may be right in thinking it's because we have so on our minds. Blessings.

I do forget what day it is alot, especially if the kids are home or my husband doesn't go to work. I do lose more track of the date than what day it is though. I never know what the date is anymore.

in my case i happen to forget dates when i am too preoccupied. or when all of a sudden my schedule has been changed. like one day i work on sunday, since sunday is a regular day-off for me i thought when i went to work the next day its already tuesday. i just laugh out when i realize i was wrong.
the same thing happens to other people.
