Are you a leader or a follower

People are not equal. There are those that are born with special gifts and are born of power and wisdom. In our life we have the option to choose wither to become a great leader or a good follower. Some may have been force to follow and some may have been force to lead. I was just wondering in your life and work today, which are you? Are you the ones giving the order as a boss or a manager or are you better of following orders. I am not saying that you are inferior if you say that you are a follower. There are just some individuals who were even given a chance to lead but declined since they wanted more to follow rather than lead, they feel happy that way. So what are you?

There is nothing wrong of course to being a follower. Though being a leader thus bring forth some fame and glory but it also carry responsibilities and obligation.

I think, generally speaking, everybody are willing to be a leader at heart even if he or she is not now. Most of time because people are afraid of responsibility or commitments. And at other time maybe people think being follower is a better choice than being leader.Actually not everyone could be a good leader. As you say,if people can not be a qualified follower, how can he be a qualified leader? But as for myself, now I am a standard follower in my work.I feel also happy this way.I hope I could grow up to a good leader in the future.

Hello there jerrydzy. I guess you really hit the nail on the head on your answer. There is really someone inside us that wants to be a leader. Though most of the time our fear of having responsibilities as well as living to the standard will hinder our will to become one. I am glad that you are happy with what you do and with the work that you do. I am sure that with such attitude in mind, you will soon become a leader one day.

I can be both. I have been a district manager and half my employees loved me, the other half called me Hilter. I have been a follower, and I can take orders with the best of them. In the job I have now there really is only one leader and it isn't a position I ever strive to have. I go to work, do my job, and go home. I think her and I have come to an understanding. If she doesn't bother me, I won't make more work for her. But if given the choice outside of the work place. I choose to lead.

From the looks of it you are a good leader. I believe that you cannot be a good leader unless you are also a good follower. Judging by what you tell me then you are flexible which is a a very good trait. Keep up the good work!

I'm a follower. I'd rather that someone else be responsible in a work setting. I think I'm doing good when I can discipline myself -- never mind trying to keep things running smoothly when others are involved. Home is another story. I don't want anybody supervising me. I guess that's why I'm happy being single.

Well, i thinks we have some areas that we can be a leader and in some areas we can also be the follower. Its a matter of adjusting and knowing where we are good at. I am glad you are happy and I do hope you will always be happy. Even when you get married if that time comes, then you can perhaps agree with your partner which part you are good and therefore lead, like budgeting or what and what area he is also good at. I think it is just a matter of sharing and understanding. Good luck always!

I'm not really sure. I used to think that I was the leader type and I've always assumed the leader role when I was in school... but later in college, I started keeping away from it because I thought I was able to function better as an adviser :D and as a team member, as a follower. I like taking part in plans but I do better doing specific work instead so I think I contribute best as a follower :) Thanks for the response on my discussion!

I see, well there is no problem there. I guess there is part of you that is also a leader. It just probably need some polishing and of course some actual practice. Never underestimate yourself.

i think im more effective as a follower than a leader because I tend to be scared of responsibility. I feel pressured to accomplish something. I make a better follower who is guided, dictated what to do and its up to me how I attack the tasks

I see. Well, you have a point out there. Usually when you lead you take responsibilities for such actions and in some cases, this are great responsibilities. Though there are people who are willing to take such responsibilities. I am sure that everyone in us there is a leader inside. It is just a matter of having the will and the determination to be a leader and accepting the responsibilities that comes along with it.
