I am near the end of my pregnancy and I am having many sleepless nights. I am starting to feel like a walking zombie. I can't sleep well. For example it is now 4am and I cannot go back to sleep, probably had like an hours sleep all up tonight. Was this a problem for you during your pregnancy? Was there anything that you did that made you sleep better? I appreciate any advice that you may have.

In the last month of my pregnancy I felt uncomfortable in bed. My bump was large and I felt dizzy on my back. I used three pillows to support me laying on my side. I think that a warm bath before bed and getting a few supportive pillows to make you more comfortable. One night a few days before my due date I felt a few light contractions. Then they got stronger. My baby son was born two and a half hours later at home on my sofa. Good luck with getting more sleep.

Thanks for your advice I will give the pillows a try tonight. Warm bath unfortunately did not help me. I too have been having quite alot of braxton hicks contractions for past few weeks now, they are particularly strong in mornings. Will be like the boy that cried wolf, won't know when the real labour contractions are unless my waters break.

Yes, I felt confused if the contractions I was getting were the real thing. I put off calling for a mid wife until I was sure. The two mid wifes were only here fifteen minutes before my baby son was born. Good luck getting some sleep and getting more comfortable.

I had pretty bad insomnia with my first child & my last. At the end when nesting sets in, I just felt compelled & driven to clean everything night & day. In the beginning it was more from aches & pains, nothing serious but enough to keep me from sleeping. A nice cup of tea or a warm bath may help.

Yeah nesting is driving me crazy lol, I keep cleaning everything too. Probably has something to do with mind being so active at night. I have tried tea at night, however find that keeps me up even more because of the caffeine. Just had warm shower to relax me, nothing is working for me at the moment. But thank you for your response and advice I appreciate it.

i had it sooooo bad when i was pregnant... it carried on to after i delivered.. WAY to much going on... always thinking.. i hate it.. now a year later i still have a problem with it, but nothing compaired to right after i had my daughter.. i was taking sleeping pills and those didnt even work!! hahah i had a friend that took night time tylenol to sleep... i dont think its a very good idea, but it was the only way she could sleep. i think there are sleeping pills that are ok while pregnant... maybe ask your doc next time you h ave an appointment?

Thanks for your advice, I thought about sleeping pills but always been worried about taking them. Taken sleeping pills once in my life, get all anxious before hand and then feel really groggy the next morning. Can't be too good if I take it while being pregnant. I will ask doc if there is anything else I can do. Thanks for your response.

I will definately keep you informed littleowl. I can already reveal to you that I am having a baby girl, had a few ultrasounds with this pregnancy and it is definately a girl. I like to find out so I can prepare and get bubs room and clothing ready. Not big on surprises. It will already be a surprise on what personality she is going to develop and how cute she will be. Can't wait. I think she definately wants to come and say hello to the world, keeps me up all night. I feel lucky to have a healthy baby number three. Thanks for your reply!

All I have is sleepless nights since I have been pregnant this second time. I keep trying to get comfy and it totally doesn't work. I'm so physically exhausted.

Me too, when are you due? Hopefully soon, so you can begin to get some sleep. Going to be hard too though when baby arrives? I never had this problem with my two other pregnancies. I am starting to become very moody and irritated during day from lack of sleep, wish there was something we could do. Thanks for your comments.

last few weeks have been utterly sleepless for me. i havent been able to sleep very well and all i do is toss n turn. only time i find myself able to really sleep if i soak in my tub for an hour before hand just to loosen up all my muscles in my back. then if im lucky i can get a few hours sleep. otherwise i just have my guy rub my back until i fall asleep and hope for a restful nights sleep.

With my first son I slept all the time. day and night. I had tons of energy when I was awake becuase I had gotten so much sleep. This pregnancy I can't sleep for beans. I'm up till 3-4am every night and then my son gets me up around 6:30 and alot of time I'm up before that anyways. I have tried everything to sleep and nothing is working. When are you due? I'm due March 24th but scheduled for induction March 18th :)

So I am not the only sleepless zombie on here. I am due on February 27th, 20 days to go and counting. Don't somehow think my sleep problems are going to be solved then, with baby waking up all night. That is why I was hoping to get as much sleep as I can before then. Don't like my chances. I will let you know if I find any tips on getting to sleep. Congratulations on your pregnancy, thanks for your response. Keep me updated on how you progress. All the best.

i'm actually quite a good sleeper. for my first son, sleeping wasn't much of a problem. it's just that i kept waking up to go to the toilet. otherwise not much problem. now i'm expecting a baby girl and she's giving me problems and definitely lots more than her brother ever did. my stomach is bigger so i don't even have to be active. my stomach feels tired. can you believe it? she moves so much causing my stomach to feel tired which in turn gives me backache. usually, i can't sleep at night because of the aches. if i have an ache somewhere i lie on that particular side. feels like being massaged. sometimes my husband gives me a massage especially on my legs. i feel relaxed and tend to sleep longer. also, if it's for no reason that i can't go to sleep, then i do something boring that makes me feel tired or bored. that usually helps. it also helps if you don't sleep during the day and sleep at night immediately.
