The bucket list...

So last night I went to the movies to see the Bucket list. I think this movie is one of the greatest movies I've seen so far this year. It made me think about how precious and short life really is at times, but it also made me think about death and what happens after. The biggest part that made me think was when they were talking about god, faith and the after life. The comment was made that the Egyptians believe that when they die, before they get into heaven they are asked two questions which determine their entrance. The questions are.. Did you find joy in your life, and did you bring joy to others lives? Now you know what.. I think thats what it should truely be about. Those two questions I think should be what determine how we spend our afterlife. Because to be honest how we effect people in this life means more to them then it does to us. Maya Angelou put it best when she said " I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."

Wow, now I really will have to see that movie!! We wanted to when we first saw the trailer for it, but now that I've had someone watch it and give a good review, I will definitely have to check it out!! Thanks! As for those two questions, that's a very interesting way to look at it!! But honestly, if I were to ask those about myself right now (and I did, LoL) I would have to say that with my kids I have found joy, but I have not found true happiness and wonder if I ever will. As far as bringing joy to someone else, I have no clue. I often wonder if any of my friends think of and miss me the way that I think of and miss them. The only people I have in my life are my family and some friends that I have made here, but to know if I've brought them joy, I don't know. We really don't talk about it, ya know.

Well you're a joy to me so maybe that helps.. I feel blessed to call you a friend and I think of you when we don't speak. I think that we touch people without even knowing it, be it good or bad. The thing is to try and make sure we do more good then bad I suppose. Life is to short and to precious to fret over and stress about things and be unhappy. So try finding the joy in the little things and the big things will follow :).

Awe, thank you!! I've been worried about you...long time no talky!! But I know you have been busy. And you're right, I do need to pay more attention to the little things that bring me joy!! It's because of all the stress and other things that do bring me down that I forget to look at the little things. So thank you for that!!

I first heard about this movie on John Mayer's website blog, where he had a song up that he wrote for the movie. I'm looking forward to seeing it, although I doubt I'll get the chance to go to the theater to see it, I'll probably have to wait until it comes out on DVD. It's true, life is really short, and sometimes we don't realize our actions may have further consequences. Maya Angelou hit the nail on the head.
