how to ad an html link or an advertisement in mylot profile?

hi, I was hoping I could post ads on my profile. I have seen other members' profile that have ads on them but I cannot seem to find a way of posting them on my own. I was also hoping I could post "my digg" java/html code in my profile. can anybody do a step by step "an idiot's guide to posting html/java script on mylot profile" for me? I would really appreciate it. I have tried editing my profile's column/container/sortie/adding html etc.. but when I get to the html sortie and clicked edit and then pasted an html code on the box which has paste text here.. it doesnt show.. help will be greatly appreciated :) thanks in advance.
