Microsoft offered to buy Yahoo for about $44.6 billion in cash and stock on Friday, seeking to join forces against Google in what would be the bigest Internet deal since the Time Warner merger with AOL.
*
Microsoft and Yahoo have been struggling to compete with Google, and have fallen behind it in the race for online advertising dollars and Internet search market share.
*
Microsoft offered $31 a share payable in the form of $31 in cash or 0.9509 of a Microsoft share or a 62 percent premium on Yahoo's closing price on January 31.
*
Yahoo responded by saying its board will be reviewing a proposal in the "context of its strategic plans" and will "purse the best course of action to maximize long-term value" for its shareholders.
*
The Micosoft-Yahoo deal would be the largest in the Internet market since the $182 billion purchase of Time Warner by AOL in 2001, which was seen as the worst merger in recent corporate history, with clashing corporate cultures and many of the promised synergies never materalizing.

So do you think this would be a good idea for msn to buy yahoo? In my opinion i think that msn buying yahoo wouldn't be a good idea because msn and google are not "buddies" so yahoo being taken out by msn would make these two have to work together which leaves the internet to google, msn, and ask being the top search engines. Whats your opinion?
