I am a replublican for Obama..yikes..wonder if that can be dangerous to say..I always vote a split ticket though..never a straigh party liner..! What about you ..do you vote straight ticket or you venture out and make it a mixtures. I really like obama..and have really lost interest in clinton..since she is having her husband push by using his own credentials. I dont remember what Clinton was like in office..but do you think she was the passive president too?

Hello Littlefranciscan, What do you know about Barrack Obama? What has he accomplished legislatively, or otherwise? Can you name any three specific accomplishments of the candidate? If you can't, then you shouldn't pull the lever for him or her. Are you aware of his links to 'dirty' money, and his strong professional accomplishment of being linked to a man who was just arrested, and is facing charges for multiple crimes in the Chicago area? Are you also aware of the LARGE campaign contributions he received from this certain alleged criminal? And, are you aware of his 'dirty' land deal with this alleged criminal? Granted, he donated the campaign contributions to charity once his shady friend was arrested. Though, he kept and personally profited from the land deal. Honest? I don't think so. You might want to archive some of the Chicago papers about how Obama undercut and ruined the career of a high profile female legislator, who was reputed as a 'Dam of the Civil Rights movement', in order to get his legislative seat in the state of Illinois. Ethical? I don't think so. I don't know if you reside in a "Super Tuesday" state or not. Given the fact that this is "Super Tuesday", I hope that you consider my response before you pull a lever for any candidate. Obama has revealed virtually no specifics about what he would do as Commander in Chief. His stump rhetoric is the most void of substance that I have ever heard from any Presidential candidate -- and I've been following politics since the mid-1970s. Before you pull a lever, please take a little time to go on YouTube and listen to some of his campaign rhetoric. It is full of emotional platitudes, and little else. We know almost nothing about this guy, except that he got into politics by ram-rodding a well respected legislator, he's engaged in shady 'white crime' deals since he's been in the arena, he's committed himself to almost no important votes since he was elected to his national seat (this makes it impossible to scrutinize his votes), and he's given us no specifics about how he hopes to turn this country into a socialist haven. Here's his record thus far: Specifics - zero, Platitudes - too many to count. If you really want change in D.C., then don't vote for an establishment candidate! Of course, that really narrows the field. If you really want change, then ask yourself: 1. Who among the candidates has not spent many years in the political arena, schmoozing and currying favor from other politicians? 2. Who has zero links to shady deals? 3. Who is getting zero support from the establishment politicians? By establishment politicians I mean: those politicians who have been there forever, and have good reasons to support the status quo. Yes, that would definitely include the Kennedy's. When you answer these questions, your choice will exclude either Democrat candidate, and three of the G.O.P. candidates. That is, IF you really want change in D.C. One last note: if you are a registered Republican, and depending on the state where you reside, you may not be able to pull a lever for a Democrat. Many state primaries ONLY allow a registered voter to vote for a candidate in their party. Good luck with your decision. No pressure -- but alot is riding on this '08 election, not the least of which is our economy.

Nice points and thank you. I did not know about that. I am doing the digging because I am doing write ups on all the Candidates for a paper before the Nov election. I am concerned just like you, except mine are a bit different. You always have good points. If you can will you send me the links of your findings? Ainge

I apologize that I don't have the time to shift through the many pages of Obama 'rock star' news to get to the older entries about his '97 Illinois State Legislative run. You'll just have to dig deep enough, or go to the archives of the Illinois state papers. As for Obama's link to Tony Rezko: The latest figure I've read is that Obama has donated to charity approx. 70,000.00 in 'tainted' contributions. For his part in the shady land deal, Obama has called his actions "boneheaded". I can't help but ask: Do we really want a self-admitted "bonehead" as the next President of these United States? Good luck with the research. Sorry I can't be more help, but this is just a very busy time. Take care! http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/12/16/AR2006121600729.html http://cbs2chicago.com/topstories/Tony.Rezko.Blagojevich.2.337526.html http://bookerrising.blogspot.com/2006/12/independent-conservative-barack.html http://www.hanania.com/profiles/Rezko06-08-05.htm

You asked about why not voting for obama. Honestly I do have my reasons. I have watched this Freshman Senator for a bit. In one instance he was asked, now remember he is a lawyer, so he should not have been caught off guard, he was asked if he would ever run for President. His responce was a flat out no. When Bush was up for impeachment, he did not vote yes. He is a Freshman Senator and what do we really know about him? The debates between him and hill bother me too. If you turn off the volume on the TV and actually watch them, the body language says a lot. I honestly believe that with all his promises, even with the Kennedy's backing him, if he does go in, we are looking at issues for the US. That is if he makes it with out being assassinated. Something a lot are not talking about. I do not want that to happen to him believe me and I am sure he has weighed out the realities of this happening. Also there is dirt on him about a hospital that he made quite a bit of money off of and he did not put a dime of it back into helping people. If you talk out of two sides of the mouth, there is an issue. Yes all politicians do do that, this is the political game, but to make a statement as to be so bold as "I would not run for President." then to turn around and do it, that really concerns me. I also do not get a good feeling about him. There is something off I can not place my finger on. Ainge

If it's a matter of feelings that we vote by ..I wonder who would make it into Office..Freshman is a term used by others running for presidency..so i think you borrowed the term. Obama is sincer..and I really get a good feeling about that..I am a republican..so am not influenced by my own particular party. Look at the alternative..she voted for the war..and then when in line of fire..said she didnt mean to.. I dont think she has the backbone to lead the country..not yet. .. at least.. If she wins..it wont be because of my vote.

Oh I am not voting for her either. I can't stand her. Actually he is called a Freshman Senator. I write for a politician as well and I cleared that with him to make sure I was saying that right. It is his first term in office. He was and is a Lawyer. You asked the question I was simply telling you how I felt about it. I don't trust him, I don't trust her. Neither of them voted to impeach bush when they had the chance. Saying that he would never run is a great deal different than saying that he was not sure or that that was not something he was thinking about at this time. I saw him respond to that. I respect your opinion that is what this wonderful country is about. However as you had asked the question, I only answered truthfully and I will stand by it. I am not voting for either. At this point I don't know who I am voting for but it is not any of the top 3. My vote may not count but I will vote my conscience. I do thank you for the open forum of a debate though this has been fun. Aingealicia

I never just pull the lever for a straight ticket but I don't vote Republican very often. There actually have been a few exceptions in my lifetime, mainly for the Senate candidate a time or two. I've voted for Arlen Specter and for the late John Heinz as well as for a few state representatives who were more moderate Republicans. I like Obama too and I'm really happy now to know my state's primary may actually mean something for the first time in my memory. You're going to hear negatives about any candidate and I'd definitely do the research if you feel unsure but I sure don't believe everything I read. I don't think it would be humanly possible to have another crook as bad as the one we have in the White House now, not to mention half of his Administration. But, I know that's just my opinion and I admit I'm very biased against him. What can I say, I'm really "Bushed". Annie

Yes ... Obama is a good man..only thing people really pull out against him is his age..but if I remember when God chose a king from the line of Jacob..it wasnt any of the most likely candidates..they had to run after David ..who wasn't even invited into the lineup for the prophet to see..His youth was against.. him.. David had his mistakes..but he was a great King..he was the chosen one of God. Obama is young..compared to his rivals..but he is trying to keep things honest..and that's what I like about him;)

First and foremost, a politician's job is to lie. A president gets elected on his ability to both lie and hide his/her own shortcomings. There are times when I truly envy the American peoples ignorant bliss, want to be a part of it...but then reality kicks in. It is then that I realize that bliss is exactly what will destroy us. Listen to you, straight party liner? Both the Democrats and Republicans have screwed the American people. Putting a black face, or a woman's face, a pig war veteran, or the universe forbid... a minister's face on them, will not change this fact. Our government is failing...going thru the flawed process every four years just reminds me of the ghosts of the Roman Empire, Holy Roman Empire....etc. The will of the people and the will of the rulers is never the same. We, the "working poor" always suffer no matter who holds the office. It always becomes a popularity contest...and about who spends the most MONEY. Damn them all....
