If you're looking for free I'd say that AVG is the best (From grisoft) It is very good and light on system resources.
For paid software McAfee and Norton are good although Norton does consume system resources.
In addition to antic=virus make sure you also have antispyware and adware scanners to get the best protection.
Take care

I use Nod32, but Kaspersky and BitDefender are both good as well. AVG is the best free option and uses the least system resources.

I think bitdefender is a complete solution againist viruses. It also has a personal firewall which helps you a lot keeping your computer secure&safe

i suggest you try some of the open source anti-virus like kaspersky, avira antivir and avast.but my classmate uses NOD 32 and i found it muuch better but it is a paid anti-virus.anyway if you don't like to purchase a paid one, i suggest you stick to those 3 i mentioned earlier.

Avira AntiVir. It's free, works great, has frequent updates and it's easy on system resources.

Hey NO ANTIVIRUS CAN REMOVE ALL VIRUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just download windows defender available from microsoft website..................
Usually virus will install in your system without your knowledge windows defender can find that so that your system will be prevented from virus attacking
If you have been already attacked of virus (if u think so) just simply post me the process that runs in your system.I will just find it whether you are running only legitimate process

I would suggest you use AVG for it is free and it works excellent. Before, I am using Norton, but I quit it not because I don't find it a good one but I am just having trouble using it, I am not familiar how it works. I am much comfortable and already familiar with AVG because almost all cafe here uses AVG.
