Lewis Hamilton was racially abused today by Spainish F1 fans in Barcelona today

I feel this is very wrong. What are your views on this. Spainish fans hurled abuse and blacked their faces and put on t-shirts saying they were Hamilton family. He is very upset by this and rightly so. This is supposed to be a competitive sport and last year we saw too much upset caused over various incidents and already before it has begun this year it is being marred.

Hi Littleowl I agree it is cruel. Lewis Hamilton is a very young extremely good racing driver for Formula 1 motor racing who drove for the fist time for Mclaren last year, male. He done extremely well making podium in his first few races and as a rookie had the support of many but caused a lot of jealousy in certain areas. Thanks for your reply. Ellie :)

Those of course are irrational behaviors,but...hmmmm,I should say that I can understand them and also thier crazy behaviors.Every driver for his fans is a hero,so they cannot stand any unfair things which happen to him, hmm, they just forget Hamiltion is also a driver.lol.Of course,I also think fans should respect every driver regardless of your emotion.

Yes every driver has his own fans but that does not give them the right to abuse other drivers eh!. Thank you for your response. May the best driver and team win fairly this year. :D

Sadly it's always the few who spoil it for the rest of us, in no way are the Spanish racist, far from it, but there is always a small section of people who will use any excuse for this kind of unacceptable behaviour, take English football fans when they go abroad, they give the British people a bad name, and that is a very small minority. It is truly disgraceful when a wonderful talented man is abused in this way, there is no excuse for racism or this kind of behaviour, they are not true fans and just out to cause aggro and unneccessary negative press publicity. They should be ashamed of themselves and I hope the Spanish authorities come down harder on them than we would if it was in this country.

Thank you for agreeing with me that it is always the minority. My mother lives is Spain and I have numerous Spanish friends but I really did feel for Lewis in this situation. He is such a young person and should not be treated in this manner. What is it with people when someone is successful they have to put them down, is it because they feel they have failed in some way, but perhaps that is another discussion. Ellie

Even i felt that was wrong, all this is because of enimity between alonso and hamilton, that was seen in the last season. This shows that the spanish people are too narrow minded .... I donno how lewis must have felt, incidents like this make the world loose respect for a nation.... this will increase the thirst of hamilton to bypass alonso....

Yes this will create an even bigger hunger for Lewis to win. As he is so young I expect it upset him a lot bless. Thank you for your response. Ellie :)

Such a shame, even though he shouldn't have to I expect he will have to learn to live with it as a by-product of being such a good driver. Why is it that some people are so cruel. They should cheer who they support but not by putting others down in any way. Bet it was just a minority then too. Thanks for sharing. Ellie :D

Alonso is a great driver but so is Hamilton. McLaren decided to let them race each other instead of doing like most teams do and pick a number 1 and a number 2 guy. They were both treated as number 1's and Alonso couldn't handle that. Now he's back with Renault where they'll make sure he's the only number 1 guy there. I mean I don't think that Nelson Piquet is going to be any threat to Fernando this year. But Renault isn't as good as they were two years ago so I think Alonso will struggle. I think he would have been better off swallowing his pride and ego and staying with McLaren.

Yes I too think Alsonso would have been better off staying with Mclaren. Hamilton done so much for this sport last year and people who were never that interested in Formula 1 suddenly started getting involved. May the best driver win and lets hope the Spanish authorities deal with this rascist minority now to nip it all in the bud. Ellie :)

I entirely agree. I guess the Spanish fans have just shown how ignorant and unsporting they are. Racism of any description has no place in sport, or anywhere else for that matter, and if there are any recurrences of this nature then I'm sure the FIA will come down like a brick. Here's to a fantastic F1 season, I for one can't wait.

No you are right it has no place anywhere, but as usual its just a few that ruin it. Hope the FIA do bigtime. Yep hers to an exciting season. Ellie :D
