Another ice sculpture from a local coffee shop near my wifes work. These are done by local art students not professionals. Some are plain and simple yet others are very nice. I called this one Cold & Lonely Woman for obvious reasons. HAHAHA! What do you think? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

These students sure are talented. It's too bad everything's going to melt soon, as you've mentioned. After viewing all of your lovely photos, my favourite is 'still' the abstract one.:)

Thanks. I love this one as well as your first abstract one. It's hard to pick a favourite between them.

Its great. Actually I have seen some sculptures here but only during special events since it expensive to get a person to do it. So usually in some big parties, or occasions you see this things. Its definitely cool!

Yeah it can be costly at times. A lot of artists buy huge blocks of ice for this purpose. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I have not seen it yet since it is in my e-mail, I will just say that it sounds like a really fun community. Very artistic. After I post this response, I will go comment on your picture as well. The title sounds appropro, however.

This one piece was sitting a ways from all other pieces of art there. So that's one reason I named it such. HAHAHAHA!! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!`

I love it! I like the way ice sculpture's are, the light refracted through the clear beauty of the ice...

What great entertainment, to view these ice sculptures. I have always wanted to see one of these displays. I appreciate your sharing the pictures of some of them. You picked a good name for this one.

In St Paul they have the Winter Carnival each year in January. They have a huge ice carving and snow sculpture display in a local park. But it's always too cold for me to walk around checking them out so I look for the local artists work such as this one. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!`

I wonder if the students did this out of joy or if it was an assisment? I love all your photos thanks for sharing.

I would guess joy or boredom. The school is too far away for it to have been an assignment. They do the same thing on campus but in a larger and more artistic manner so this was a pleasure was all. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

That is pretty cool! We don't have stuff like that around here. I like the fact that the students and other blooming artists take the time to make these and exhibit them!

I may saunter over to the college this week to see if there are any other sculptures there. I've seen them on campus before and they were a lot more artistic there. Thanks. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~
