About 5 years ago I started using the antidepressant paxil. After about 6 months of using it my weight ballooned up 50 pounds. After talking to my doctor I switched to a new antidepressant because she thought the paxil might be related to the weight gain. Now 5 years and 4 different types of drugs later I cannot lose the weight. Any similar cases or suggestions?

I would recommend aksing you dr to re-evaluate your condition. i was in the same shoes once.but i was suffering from anxiety which led to depression. i take Buspar everyday. i also recommend chosing god to help you.in the book of John in the bible, 14:13-14 he says if you ask in my name i will do it----. i can tell you if you believe in him he will believe in you. i can also tell you that when you read this he will be waiting for you...aks him for forgiveness of your sins and be sincere and let him know, pray out loud, he will hear it and he will do it....I know because ive been there... god bless you

Believe me when i say , i understand your point of view.Unfortunately, thats now how god looks at it....If you believe in him, he will make you a success... If you are waiting to see him do something and havent given your heart to him and asked to " do what he wants with it", you are yet still a step behind.because we have to remember that he has nothing to prove in this aspect...BY giving him your heart, you are telling him you trust in him and you know he will take care of you... i cannot tell you what to do... but i can assure if you were to take this advice from me, you will see as you would grow as a christian, he will make so many changes in your life you wont know which one to enjoy more... god bless you

I've gotten a couple of comments about turning to God. I mean absolutely no disrespect when I say this, and I am being completely serious, I only wish that I could have the level of faith that you apparently have. I am just one of those "have to see it too believe it" kind of people. Wish I wasn't... Thanks for the tips.

I have heard this before, I suffer from depression but i won't take medications for it, I am trying to work it out myself with positive thinking, I think a lot of medications make people put on weight, its hard to know what to do...
I love your avatar pic...a real cutie.

Thanks for the advice. I find it's a struggle to get myself motivated to do much of anything sometimes. Positive thinking...I'm not very good at that at all! I guess it's a matter of reprogramming your brain...lol!

I gained some weight when I was on Paxil. It didn't bother me as much because I was more concerned about getting help and getting better to stop the symptoms I was experiencing. I'd say that making sure to get a lot of exercise, even if it's just walking daily would definitely be beneficial.

I've heard that walking is very beneficial to someone with depression and anxiety, but I find it so hard to get myself motivated. Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it/

Thank you for the comment. While I appreciate the advice, I tried to trust in God but it's never really got me that far. I only wish that I could have the faith that it sounds like you have.
