Call or text, which do you do more?

When mobile phones were introduce to the market, the world was overwhelmed by such a wonderful device. From the young and old, it has become a craze. The initial features were only calling and receiving a call. As years have passed, you can almost do anything from the standard calling to more than that... text messaging, video calling, picture taking, video filming. More features have been added from internet connectivity, bluetooth, gps, games etc. However two of the most common things we do are calling and texting. As for me, I do my texting more most especially that the call charges here are quite expensive, this is probably the reason why our country is considered the text capital of the world. I was wondering what do you prefer or what do you usually do, call or text?

With all the features that they've already added on mobile phones, I still go along with calls and SMS. Then again, since network providers are so creative in making lucrative ways out of an addiction that they themselves found in mobile phones, we end up doing text instead of calls.. though some network providers in the text capital in the world still provides that call and text unlimited service.
However, I am not much into that habit of calling or texting anyone if its not important like quotes or jokes. I do get some every once in a while and all I could do is reply.. if not say thanks.. if its important, I use calls, if its something to be reminded about and needs urgent action, I guess it can go with text messages.

I do a lot of texting but when I made calls they usually go for about 30 minutes each. My cell provider has been jerking me around with my unlimited plan and the phone that I bought so I am getting the most out of it before I start looking into another provider.

i definitely text much more than i call. of course if i actually want to catch up with a person or have an in depth conversation then a phone call is in order. and most of my business is done with calls (though some of it is via text now!). texting is just an easier quicker way to exchange information, and especially if i'm out in public, it's far less disruptive to everyone around me if i'm texting as opposed to yapping on the phone.

You have a point there, sometimes texting is less distracting. However, its sometimes insulting when someone is talking in front of you and you are not listening since your texting. Well, the thing is in all things we do as long as we do it in the proper time, then there is no problem. But you are right, it less distracting and the added bonus is that it is much cheaper.

Well, I really like to talk on the phone but if I know it's not very important than i'll just send a text or if it's before the minutes are free.

I love to send text messages to my friends. Calling has itw own pleasure, but the beauty of text message is different. It can be sent anytime (24 hours), it can be seen by the receiver at his/her convenience and 160 words text messages sometimes conveys more than those words. I am very found of sending and receiving text messages.

i was also taken into the texting hip during the time when cellphone was in boom. i was still a student then when i first got addicted to texting. i loved being in contact with my friends from far places and even meeting new people thru texting. but recently i haven't been texting, its like i got tired of it especially that my friends have been texting less and less as the days go by. now i don't text unless it is something important. its better that way too because i can save money. ^__^

you're right. people get addicted to text and they just make those network companies richer everyday. sometimes i miss texting but oftentimes, i'm happy with my dormant text life. ^__^

Yes secret bear. That is actually one way of saving. Just imagine in a day if you text here in our country, say assuming that its not a free set up. That is about P1 for every text. So lets say we text 30 messages to 40 messages a day then that big already and add it up to a month. wow, no wonder the network owners are getting richer day by day.

When the message I want to reach across is not really urgent or a rush, I prefer to just text the person. However, if I am in a hurry to receive a reply, I usually make the call. But when I do make that call, I make it really quick. That way, I don't have to spend too much on the call. Some people I know prefer to make their calls instead of texting. These people are mostly the ones who are usually impatient for a response to their queries. But I think that it's really more practical to just text the person and to wait for the reply especially when the message is not really urgent at that very moment.

Im definately a texter, even if it was not expensive to do so I would never call! It just seems easier to text rather than actually talk to a person, I even text my mum, and occasionally i get told off by my dad because my mum sometimes gets a bit upset that I never phone. But I dont do it on purpose I just find it better!!

i call more now since i use two different sim from different companies. one gives me a cheaper rate on unlimited calls. so i avail more on it, though the downside is that it has busy trunk lines. calls for emergency is not at its best, plus the limited signals in some area in my country is also a major factor.

Well, I think better service means better price. Its really funny how are system here works. But at least I am happy that there are a lot of networks competing each other. This actually resulted to call rates getting lower aside from the promotional competitions that they do. Definitely, we the users are the ones that are benefited.

Lol text, it's much cheaper. But if it's really urgent or to big to say in a text i'll cal. Sometimes i even ask other people in a text message to call me cause it's cheaper for me! =D

Well, that is a wise move indeed. There was a time when I do that to some people whom I know who has the money and who are close to me. I just txt them and tell them to call me. Much better that way. But if its an emergency, or very important matter, I just call right away.

I text more. I sent about 1000 texts a month. Basically I can contact someone while getting on with something else, I keep loosing headphones for my phone, so if I am talking to something I need to hold the phone, whereas with texting I can text, put it down and get on with what I am doing. I also have unlimited texts on my contract, while I only have 200 minutes, so to make sure I don't go over I use more texts.

It is a good job that I have memorised the keypad of my phone since when I am outside in the sun, the mirror on my phone stops me being able to see the screen. I just need to hope that predictive text is my friend and I don't send anything inappropriate to someone by accident :P

I think it depends. Id rather call if its free cause its easier. Texting for me takes forever its ok though. If I had my sisters phone Id rather text. She has a keyboard type thing on hers so its easier.

I direct connect more than both of those actually. It allows to me talk to my friends, without using text messages, or my minutes. Gives me the best of both worlds

It depends on the situation, also the type of plan that I have. Prepaid plans in my country do offer unlimited text messaging buton the same network and unlimited calls as well for an affordable price. If I can say it in a message , I would send an SMS but there are times that it is better if I just say it by calling the person.

There are actually promotions of free text and unlimited calls in the same networks. But the problem would be is when you call to other networks, it would be more expensive. Its really sad, I wish our government here could come up with something to make a law or mandate to have the same charges or same setting when you call other networks.
