Do You Think The Moon Can Effect Moods?

My sister who works in the police force as a dispatcher hates to see the full moon arise. She said that there are calls in the whole night that people have just caused all kind of problems more so than on other nights. She has always said that she hates to work on a night that there is a full moon. But she is not the only person that has mentioned this to me. Even some of the teachers at the child care center have mentioned this when the group of children are extremely rambunctios. Do you believe that there is any validation to this.

Yes, yes and yes. I have worked in retail and it's crazy (not in a good way) when there is a full moon. People are quicker to anger and just plain weirder. I have talked to people who do care for people with mental challenges and they say they have a harder time during full moons as well. I have also known people who work in hospitals and say there are more births. Someone tried to explain why to me recently, but she didn't do a very good job because she couldn't remember the details.

I believe it, I have no idea why but it does. I worked in and adult foster care home for almost 3 years and every single full moon the residents were horrid. All of the careworkers hated working when there was a full moon and we could actually tell which ones were going to have behaviors and which would be more moody or sullen.

Yes, definitely the high tide and low tide and the new moon and the full moon does have effect on animals on the earth. The werewolf is said to come awake on a full moon night and people who are somewhat insane are said to be lunatics, after the moon (lunar). It is said that their insanity increases during the change in the phase of the moon. Don’t know about lovers though!

I believe so yes. However science claims that the moon's gravitational pull is too weak to have any real effect on us. Of course everyone points out that the moon affects Earth's tides. But supposedly there are studies that explain how the moon affects Earth's water, but does not show any significant changes in human behavior. Here is one article that goes into it a little bit. (sorry I don't have time to find the really good stuff). http://skepdic.com/fullmoon.html I myself believe that people are in fact affected by the moon phases simply because humans are made mostly of water. So why wouldn't we feel the effects? It may not be so dramatic as to affect statistics, but in interaction with locals, you can tell. -Tink

Moon is affecting moods for sure. I am very energetic during full moon. I can not sleep and I can work all night.... I don't know why it works this way, but it was always affecting me...

I've seen this, too. I worked in mental health with prison inmates and the full moon almost always seemed to bring on more extreme behavior. I've also had nurses tell me that more babies are born during the fullest phase of the moon. Our bodies - and that includes our brains - are finely balanced creations. It makes sense that something that can control the ocean tides could also effect us. I know that changes in barometric pressure effect my body.

I have heard this, and I've also heard that its been disproven. I think its a matter of preception. Your expecting worse so you get it? I have a friend that swears she can't sleep when there's full moon, but heck she couldn't sleep regular hours at the best of times - don't know HOW she kept a job!

Yes I do believe that it effects people's moods. I used to work in an emergency room and we could always count on being the busiest when the moon was full. I've even had relationships that seemed to have more problems when the moon was full. I completely believe in this theory.

I think it does, as I work in Juvenile Corrections. I see the mood changes whenever there is a full Moon. I know of several others at work who agree with me. I think it could have something to with magnetics.

I think moon has no affact at mood but to me moods can affact the moon and it is just a mood due to which we think the moon is great and some thimes it is just mood due to which we dont like moon. Muhammad Atif atifshahzad1@yahoo.com

Indeed I do,as it effects the tides.Generations ago when a woman would go through her menstruation cycle it was refered to as mooning.Very possibly not only the moon effects our being, perhaps various planetary alignments may also be considered. As is above....so is below. Cheers

Years ago I worked in ER admissions. The night of the full moon was busy, but the couple nights after were even worse. The nurses kept kind of an informal track of this I guess. They figured the effect of the full moon showed up within a few days. I've known a few folks with unfortunate mental conditions. The full moon certainly had an effect on them. Of course, one of them kept track of the moon cycles so I don't know if that influenced it...Whit
