My Boss is a complete%$#&^@

My Boss at work, actually, he is my department head not my direct supervisor is one big a$$/ar$e/jerk. I work in IT and so I am what is classed an exempt employer, no overtime etc, yet, my job could result in me being called at any time and coming to work at anytime. So, about 2 weeks ago I needed to stay home as my kids schools were closed due to snow(it also wasn't safe for me to drive to work either). I chose to take the day as sick leave as I certainly wasn't on vacation, yet he has now come back and questioned my timesheet suggesting it should be vacation not sick leave.
What's your take on this?

IMO the company should have removed him from management duties years ago as most people in the company do not like him. The chances of that happening are very slim as one's importance grows after one has been there 20+ years and all the senior management have over 20 years service.
It isn't that bad though as my immediate supervisor is really good and helps where he can(he's in the same boat as the rest of us), still makes this boss a $%#@#%.
