Anybody Have A SIMPLE Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe?

Canada

I am possibly the world's worst baker, well lets be honest, the world's worst cook! I would really like to get better at cooking, but especially baking. I want to be one of those moms who can work, clean, bake, etc. I was wondering if anyone out there had a recipe for chocolate chip cookies that was for the "Beginner" baker? Any suggestions would be so appreciated!

Hi, can you give us a better idea of what you mean by "Beginner". Like, have you tried the recipes that come on the chocolate chip packages and they don't taste right? Or are your tendencies to burn the cookies? (Don't feel bad if you do - I burn 1 tray of cookies every time I bake them) -Tink

You got it. I'm one of those people who can't cook without burning the food. I used to blame it on the oven we had when we lived in our first apartment, but we have since bought our own appliances and the problem is definitely me, not the apartment oven.

If you ever get really desperate, cooking that cut and bake cookie dough is pretty easy. All you have to do is cut, place on the tray, and follow the instructions on the roll. Another good way to help with baking cookies is to check on them often. That's how I usually end up burning stuff. Stay in the kitchen, and maybe read a book or a magazine while baking, and it might help. If you have a light inside your oven, use it, too. That way, you won't have to open the oven to check on the cookies. And always take them out right before they look done. If it's a light golden brown and you want a medium golden brown, take them out then. The cookies will continue to bake while on the hot cookie tray for at least another minute. I wish you luck on baking. It's a terribly hard thing to master, and I'm only good at it because my mom started teaching me in elementary school.
