Which do you prefer???Laptop or desktop? For me,i have both, but i prefer to use a laptop better than a desktop b/c i can take it anywhere, and i can get online with the wi-fi connection for free. :) As for the desktop,i've had one for over a year now,and i'm just bummed out with it. Laptops are better imo. What's your thoughts on these electronics?

I have to admit I don't have tons of experience with a laptop yet. I just got my first one as a gift this Christmas. But I think I could very easily get spoiled by the laptop and abandon the desktop altogether. I love the ability to go wherever I want in the house whenever I'm working on the laptop. Much nicer than being strapped to the desk and have absolutely no flexibility on where I work. That, and I can see that it will be a huge time saver for me. See, I go to meetings outside the house and need to take handwritten notes. Then, I have to come home, re-read my notes, and finally type them out to distribute at the next meeting. Just the extra effort and time I'll save being able to type the notes on the computer the first time around will be a huge help. Okay. I'm sold. I'm definitely a laptop fan more than desktop. I just talked myself into it. :-)

I'm totally with you on that one. Nothing better than being able to curl up on the couch under a nice, warm blankey and still know you can get something accomplished. Before I got the laptop, I'd be stuck sitting in a desk chair for hours on end trying to get stuff accomplished. By the time I tried moving again, my poor body was so cramped up it took everything I had just to stand up. Thank goodness those days are over! :-)

that's what i think about the laptop. They are such great tools for the work on the computer that when your back is hurting,Let's say, well, you can lie down on the couch and still do your work. Not with a desktop though. hmm mmm,you havve to sit there right at the desk and do your work,or get none done at all. That's the best thing i love about laptops is the fact that you can lie down on the couch.

I will say that EVERYONE I know who has exculsively a laptop always says "I want a desktop to do my powerful jobs on and upgrade it." and everyone who only has a desktop will always say "I want a laptop for portable work" Its really funny if you ask me. I only have a laptop (College Student BTW) and I wish I had a desktop because I never use my laptop except on top of my desk.

both of you have really gr8 points of desktops and laptops.and the fact that a person can have both,is very handy in more ways than one.i do have both, and i gave the desktop to my g/f,but if i ever need it again to do something on it that i can't on the laptop,b/c some of the software that i have is on the desktop i can go back to it anytime and do whatever i nneed to. i've got my printer hooked up to my desktop,so if i have something that i need to print out from my laptop, i can send the page to my g/f's email, and than open the message and than print it out on her desktop. So,it does help to have both of them. thanks both of you for answering.

I totally agree with you. Laptop is better than desktop. It is portable. You can take it to your bed and work there. I am using my laptop on my bed at the moment. I am feeling very easy to work on my laptop. I have also my desk top but I could not take or move it from my computer trolley. It my laptop which I use anywhere and at any time during my the moment when I travel from one place to another place.

I think laptops are better because you are not limited to only one place to use it.

There is no way I'd ever own anything other than a laptop anymore. I have two of them now. I have one that I use for personal use and one that I use for business use. The business one can come home with me if I don't want to go to the office or whatever. When I'm at work, I just dock it up at my desk so that I can use a regular keyboard and mouse and I'm set to go. Today's laptops are just as powerful and tood as the desktops -- that didn't used to be the case, but it is now. The only disadvantages that I see are that the laptops are more expensive, and due to the fact that they are portable are more prone to getting broken or stolen.

I like laptops better. Sometimes I want to just sit on the couch in front of the tv and still be online. I dont have laptop right now but I will when I get my tax returns back. YEAH!! Sometimes you just get sick of sitting in a computer chair all the time to and just need to put your feet up and relax and laptop lets you do all of that.

i think i got a bunch of buddies here at mylot that agrees with me that laptops are better,LOL. I'm with you about watching tv on the couch while surfing online.I like the advantage that you can do that.Especially with the wi-fi connection network. I can take mine up to mom's house and surf there also.

I don't mond laptops. But I wouldn't buy one here in Australia until they get rid of th "crystal bright screens. If you take those out into he sunlight you have to keep moving around to avoid the sun glare on the screen.

i think that's what mine's got on it.One day i think that i did take it out into the sun,and i couldn't see the screen at all.It was just like the sun's rays were blocking the picture on the laptop.

I also have desktop and laptop. In the past I preferred to use desktop, now I get used to laptop. Especially it's so cold nowadays, at least I can get online wherever I like because of the laptop.

i like the laptop better.it is so handy, and alot of times,i like to lay down while i'm playing around on the internet. Desktops you can't do that, lol.you have to sit up in a chair and play with the internet. I tried to lie down with the desktop, didn't work out to well.I put my desktop on a table,at least the monitor, and the hard drive on the floor, and had the keyboard on my lap,and i put the mouse near the monitor. And it didn't work out at all.LOL needless to say, lesson learned...LOL

Ofcourse A Laptop! Its much more convinent than a desktop. I currently use a desktop and find it really difficult. I spend almost 2 hours in the bus/cab to go to my office. If i had a laptop, then i could have used it during my journey. ;) I want to buy one too. Any recommendations about the laptops? Which one do you think I should go for?

Personally I prefer a desktop as I am mostly using it indoors and in the same place. Its nice to have the freedom to move around though, as laptops do, and I do occasionally use my laptop also.

I love my laptop, and am glad that i got it! i've not had it long though.

I'm using laptop at both work and home. I prefer a laptop as it allows me to be mobile- I can go anywhere and get connected. Been a few years since I last used a desktop computer.

It really depends. I love both, but for different reasons. Laptops have a convenience aspect to them, but are more expensive, overheat, and are typically less powerful than their desktop equivalents. It's all really a matter of sacrificing portability for an improvement in just about everything else.

If you like go mobile -- you better choose laptop, but laptop is expensive, i dont have enough money to buy or repair if broken. So i use now is desktop, cheap, easy to upgrade and adding component.

10 Feb 08
no it's not,it isn't that exspensive.but i agree that it is exspensive if you got it broken. But just be careful when you use it though. desktop is nice too though, but i like the laptop better much better than the desktop.

I use my desktop mostly when I am at home, like now. The laptop comes in handy when I am out and about, feeling lazy at home and want to work from another room or even my bed! Public Wifi is great, but I do wonder sometimes whether it is really all that private. Perhaps we are broadcasting to the World without realizing it.

i like my laptop better.but i've got a desktop, but i gave it to my g/f when i got my laptop. So,now the desktop is all her's,and she can surf the net. and on the wi-fi network connection,it is wild that we can get online through it,for free to be more blunt. i'm connected right now through wi-fi. I think it is linksys but don't see how linksys is considered a connection.Oh well.

I Think that they both have their advantages...I think that i would actually prefer a desktop if you have like a home business because its just better in my opinion...however if I am trying to travel I would rather have my laptop because it is more convient because who are we kidding you could never take a desktop with you..but you could put your laptop in your bag and not have to worry about it you just hook it up in your hotel room and not have to worry about it anymore...they both have their advantages!

i've gotta admit that you're right about that. You cannot take a desktop with you when you're traveling.
