When you invite people around what social activities do you like to do?

Some of the best times I have had when I have invited friends around are: when I have a sing star night. At first everyone is a bit embarassed. But then after a few drinks everyone is having a ball. It is a great ice breaker for a party. I also like to have poker nights, everyone puts in $5 and whoever has most chips at end of night takes home the main pot. Another great thing I like to do is to have games nights, such as Cranium, it is a combination of quizzes, charades and pictionary. Fun game to play and let loose around friends. Themed dinner nights are also great, such as Indian or Spanish night. What social activities do you enjoy doing whilst you have guests? Or do you just enjoy having few drinks, barbecue and chatting? I like all of the above.

Normally in most Hindu families, the get togethers are quite common in all category of families, because of many festivals we have. There is no dearth for activities. Usually it starts with good wholesome food preparation with variety of dishes (it may not be like too many cooks spoil the broth). Secondly there will be gifts for most of the festivals -- gift by the man of the house to all the visitors (relatives). Thirdly, chit chatting is another great activity. Next comes, viewing the photographs uploaded in the form of videos or pictures. Fourthly, view a recent good movie which everyone wants to watch together. Fifthly we also play ball badminton, chess, carrom, snake and ladder, ludo etc. If the relatives are from far off places and visiting first time, then they are taken out to show the palces of tourist importance and definitely visit to one or two restaurants is one of them.

Wow, you think I would know all this considering my mum is Hindi. However she does not talk much about social activities that she used to do. It sounds like a great night of fun full of a variety of entertainment. Can't believe you can fit that all of these great things into one night. Think I need to go party with the Hindu families. Thanks for your very interesting response.

Well I guess drinking would be one, that's one form of enjoying life for us and be merry!;) But most of the times, it's either we're into the same sports. Since we're all eager and willing to learn and try new stuffs, like playing basketball and others. The one thing I enjoy the most is, the singing. Either we're in a videoke bar, or we're strumming a guitar and sing along with it. We all love to try different things, so we don't get to feel tired being with each other..

Yep, that's what videoke is. Just in case you don't know, it's a Filipino who invented that cool and handy form of entertainment!;)

Sounds like you live a merry life raijin. I love singing too. Never heard of a videoke bar, is that the same as a kareoke bar where people get up and sing songs from video clips and the words are on the screen?

we have all sorts of activities coz we have different age levels whenever there's an event or a gathering at home. kids are always having a blast because we always prepare games to keep them entertained. adults have fun with them too. we have board games, card games, videos and video games, play stations, psp, computer games, videoke (singing) and some outdoor games. sometimes, we use the kiddie pool to hang around with. of course, the chats, drinks and food are all non stop. :)
