Its funny b/c you must have been in western PA because I grew up in South Jersey near Philly and it was soda. When I lived in Jacksonville, FL it was hit or miss because down there its just a hodgepodge of people who moved there. Now I'm in Indiana-after leaving Ca, after leaving Oh-All three say pop most predominately but I still say soda-or they say Coke-no matter what the soda-kind of like saying Kleenexeven though its another brand of tissue.

Well, I think that this is definetly a matter of what region you live in. In the north, it is pop, and in the south, it is soda. Why the need for the difference I don't know. I think that it is supposed to be soda. But some crazy yank decided to call it pop and that's where that started.(no pun intended) It is just the slang or alternative language used in the north. I used to live in the north my self and called it pop, when I moved back to the south and I called it pop, people laughed at me. There is also the ways that Texans say: ya'll instead of you all. It just depends where you live I guess.

Here its called both. I call it pop myself but it varies. Down where my hubby is from they call it "drinks". I was lost when they asked me if I wanted a glass of drinks. I was like huh??? We are in Canada, but he's from a different province then me. Too funny how names of things change!
