Hi everyone so today I opened all my windows to get the germy air out of the house. Both my hubby and I have been real sick again we keep passing it back and forth to each other. So now that today it is 65 degrees here I thought I would air the house out. Do you think that will help?

I didn't mean to leave it on there. but spray & then wash the surface.
I had a cat in the house for a few hours that had Fluk. I sprayed the room down with Lysol, and then I washed all the surfaces, and I STILL kept the cats o ut of the room for 48 hours.

Oh, no, no, no! I did a discussion about the potential dangers of anything, any product with the word "sol" in it as it has a chemical in it that is extremely hazardous to pets and Terry has two kitties!

That would help alot, Terry. Fans in the windows in reverse so the indoor air is exhausted outside is even better. Praying that you both get better soon and don't get sick anymore.

I think you have a great idea! I've never heard of anything bad about opening the windows and letting in fresh air. I heard it's actually really good to go outside and get plenty of fresh air each day. It also helps a person sleep better! I know that always works for me. The more fresh air I get, the better I sleep. I don't know how or why, but all I know is that it makes me feel really good. I'm jealous of your nice weather! I'm from Michigan, and it's about 15 degrees here right now. We're having heavy snow right now too. I don't know how it can snow so hard with it being that cold! (Usually it has to be in the 30s before it'll be "warm" enough to snow. It might sound weird, but that's the way it goes around here.) Where are you from? I'd love to be anywhere but here! Anyway, it's really nice that you've brought the outdoors into your home by opening it up to let in the warm breezes. It seems like so many germs and the musty smells collect all winter. You just have to open it up to let the wind clean it all out. They say it's more blessed to give than to receive, but you and your husband shouldn't have been so generous in giving your sicknesses to each other! (LOL) It's been neat hearing about your scenario. I think yours is an excellent idea. I wish you many more warm and beautiful days like you had today! (Please be so kind as to pass on the nice weather to Michigan when you have a chance.) Thanks for a great discussion!

I'm sorry the nice weather didn't last longer, but I'm glad you had a chance to enjoy it and get all the germs out of your house. I'm sure you and your husband will be much more healthy now! That is, of course, unless the weather change doesn't make you sick all over again! I know that's the way it goes with me. If the weather temperatures keep changing, I catch a cold every time in addition to my wonderful allergies. (LOL) That's usually the way it goes during this time of the year. The weather will tease you with a couple really nice days here and there. You'll think that spring is finally coming, but then the weather drops 30 degrees and you're back where you started! I'm from Michigan, so we have at least four or five months of snow and probably six or seven months of winter (temperatures below 40 degrees Fahrenheit). Yuck! Oh well...the summers here are beautiful and sometimes very HOT. I guess you could say Michigan is a very extreme state. Last year and this year alone we've had a high of 110 degrees and a low of 20 degrees below zero wind chill (Fahrenheit). It's crazy! I think I might move to a southern state. (LOL) Well, it's been nice hearing about your beautiful weather. I hope the sun is shining where you are. Have a wonderful day.

I think that will help. Fresh air is always good for the body and the soul. Don't forget to get new toothbrushes. Germs can thrive very well in the bristles. And, although it's a pain, I always change the sheets every day until we're well.

It might help a little bit but I would also use Lysol spray or something of that nature on doorknobs and various places in the house. The best way to catch something is by handling anything the sick person has touched. Constant handwashing also helps. I quit sharing a towel with my husband so that is another way to prevent the spread of germs.

I hope it helps you and your hubby to get rid of the sickness. I can't ever open my windows to let the fresh air in because my allergies are so bad. I would love to do that though because I love the smell of the outside when you open up the windows to let the fresh air in. Hope you get rid of all the germs and you and your hubby start feeling 100% better.

It certainly can't hurt. Yesterday here in Maryland we got to 72 degrees. I did open one window before I left for work just to get some fresh air in the house.

I would have opened the house but hubby always starts to complain that the house cools down too much. LOL I like the fresh air when we can sneak it in the winter. If I would have been home the majority of the day I would have opened more. LOL

Airing the house is an excellent idea, TerryZ. I also took the opportunity to air mine during the recent nice weather we have been having. Not only does this give you the benefit of circulating fresh air in and stale air out, it also gives you hope that spring is around the corner. I try to air my apartment at least once a week unless the weather becomes too cold.

Couldn't hurt...LOL. That's one of the key reasons people keep getting sick especially during the winter..everyone usually has their windows shut tight..uh, I don't, even in the coldest weather I have a few windows open a bit to let fresh air in, including one of my bedroom windows. So, yup let that fresh air in...it was like spring today here too...68 degrees...Oh my!

Well I guess you're not ready to practice dancing for Dancing With The Stars...my energy level hasn't been too keen either ...all I can say is just try to keep busy somehow, doing something, anything...I'm not keen on being lazy..feel guilty when I do, but then that's the neurotic overachiever in me..LOL

I would have to ask under what conditions you get sick...summer/winter/rainy weather, etc. There could be a number of factors that would be causing your illnesses. Could it also be the house itself?
I am a nutritional educator and talk to people all the time about how nutrition affects their bodies ability to handle illness. How is your nutritional intake, diet, supplements?
The next run is I would examine the use of cleaning chemicals you us and how they affect your illness. This is suprising to somepeople but if you read the cautions on cleanring bottles they are very hazardous!
I would examine the use of hand washing, air flow, animals interations, mold, and insulations as well as talk about any allergies.
There is alot here but I can go into detail about any of these items if you have interests. Hope it helps for a start!

Oh yes, I firmly believe a lot of illness has to do with having no fresh air.. Just as long as you don't get chilled, I would have the windows opened..

Mornin' Terry!...Wow, I haven't said that in a long time. I'm so happy you are feeling a tiny bit better..yea!
I think it always helps to open the windows and get some fresh air, mentally and physically. We are so cooped up in the winter with everything closed up, hardly any sun, cold and dampness, it just makes you feel plain old depressed.
So, opening up the windows rejuvinates the soul shall we say, and makes you feel more alive and well. Just like the sun makes you feel good. I felt better the other day when I was able to really open up my car windows while driving...it was so nice to do.
Ahhhh, Spring is in the air, I hope, haha.

Sure couldn't do that here. We are getting a wind, rain and hail storm. No fun at all. It sounds scary outside.

There you are! I was wondering if you were ok!
I think airing the house will make a big difference, as I did that today also. My husband came home sick half day and my son is recovering from an ear infection so i think airing the house hopefully has done some good. I also think getting around to cleaning our bedroom out helped too LOL our blinds were so full of dust i was sneezing the entire time I was cleaning them LOL not good haha
Hope you're feeling better Terry!!

Fresh air is so good for you! It'll blow the germs out and invade their breeding grounds. I think it's absolutely essential to change the air once in awhile so even in the winter I'll open a few windows even if for only a minute or so.
Hope y'all don't get sick again!

It is very important to open windows and let the fresh air in, especially in bedrooms.
Make sure you change the bed linen more often.
Germs have got the habit of sticking to pillows
and sheets.
Hang the blankets in the sun , try not to get them moist.
best wishes.
