Well the best gift to give the ones you love is to be the best you can be..If you are less then your best how can you be an example..or whatever it is they feel they need.. I have Louise Hay's 12 commandments that I read daily. I am still working on myself.I just thought I'd share them. "LOUISE HAY’S 12 COMMANDMENTS ~ OR HOW TO LOVE YOURSELF STOP ALL CRITICISM Criticism never changes a thing. Refuse to criticize yourself. Accept yourself exactly as you are. Everybody changes. When you criticize yourself, your changes are negative. When you approve of yourself, your changes are positive. FORGIVE YOURSELF Let the past go. You did the best your could at the time with the understanding, awareness, and knowledge that you had. Now you are growing and changing, and you will live life differently. BE GENTLE AND KIND AND PATIENT Be gentle with yourself. Be kind to yourself. Be patient with yourself as you learn the new ways of thinking. Treat yourself as you would someone you really loved. BE KIND TO YOUR MIND Self-hatred is only hating your own thoughts. Don’t hate yourself for having the thoughts. Gently change your thoughts. PRAISE YOURSELF Criticism breaks down the inner spirit. Praise builds up. Praise yourself as much as you can. Tell yourself how well youare doing with every little thing. SUPPORT YOURSELF Find ways to support yourself. Reach out to friends and allow them to help you. It is being strong to ask for help when you need it. BE LOVING TO YOUR NEGATIVES Acknowledge that you created them to fulfill a need. Now you are finding new, positive ways to fulfill those needs. So lovingly release the old negative patterns. TAKE CARE OF YOUR BODY Learn about nutrition. What kind of fuel does your body need in order to have optimum energy and vitality? Learn about exercise. What kind of exercise do you enjoy? Cherish and revere the temple you live in. MIRROR WORK Look into your eyes often. Express the growing sense of love you have for yourself. Forgive yourself while looking into the mirror. Talk to your parents while looking into the mirror. Forgive them, too. At least once a day say, “I love you, I really love you!” LOVE YOURSELF . . . DO IT NOW Don’t wait until you get well, or lose the weight, or get the new job, or find the new relationship. Begin now–and do the best you can. HAVE FUN Remember the things that gave you joy as a child. Incorporate them into your life now. Find a way to have fun with everything you do. Let yourself express the joy of living. Laugh. Rejoice, and the Universe rejoices with you!"

This is so neat, are you watching Oprah, too? I do not get to do stuff like that, but we are in a snow day and I am getting to watch her, and Louise Hay. This is great posting, and I will print it up and be inspired by it.

I just found it rather wonderful that she was on Oprah and I was watching it when you posted. Otherwise I would not really have known who she was.

What wonderful advice and alternative commandments, I think I am guilty of a few of them especially criticizing myself, a wise mentor and lovely lady and tutor once sat me down and said Brian, you are too hard on yourself, now STOP it! It is true I don't need enemies I have myself. I wish I had a printer because I would print that off and frame it so I could see it every day and learn them by rote because they are so so true. Thank you for sharing ma x

Mom I LOVE this post! I have done a depreesions and an anxiety management course and some of these rules are things we were taught in those - and I have to say that they do work - I know that from experience! Even now a few years down the line I have to admit I quite often forget these rules but I do try my best! xxx

Sweets that is the reason you should be reading this everyday...You need all the love you can give yourself..It may sound corny but I look in the mirror and tell myself I love myself and sometimes I am not looking too chipper but I do .. I have learned to love every bit of me..I am not worried about my flaws anymore because I know they make me me and I am AOK... and you are the best xoxxoxoxoxoxoxo

Hi raydene! It is morning now here in my country and your post is the first one I have read. It is so beautiful and I felt so good upon the realization of of all the good and bad I have made in my life. They are all learning lessons to me. I felt good with your post and it reminded me to love myself more. I guess, I need more working out in the positive light of things. It is so hard for me to ask help because I always feel shamed by admitting my weaknesses. I have always feel good in helping others and I can not describe the joy I feel inside whenever I was able to help anyone. But never did I really allow anyone to help me even as much as I wanted help. I hope this will be a new day for me to allow myself to honestly and truthfully admit my weaknesses not only to myself but to my Lord and to my family and friends as well. Thank you friend for this post my friend! Take care and have a nice day! :)

I guess we need to make time for ourselves, we always put us at last and think about our family first. I like the "HAVE FUN" commandment, if you laugh you add years to your life, you waste less muscles when you laugh then when you frown. So, laugh a lot and love yourself at all times! Those are very good principles, let put it to use.
