Can there be paradise on earth or does it only exist in an after-life? What kinds of things do you imagine you might find in utopia?
I often wonder what heaven will be like. I would certainly want it to be beautiful and full of joy. I would like to encounter people I have known and loved and feel loved and wanted. I hope there will be animals, especially all my pets! Mostly my ideas are pretty vague. What about you?

Well, from the Bible we know Heaven will have streets of gold. And the tree of life, so I'm thinking maybe it will be like earth except perfected? I don't think we'll be dealing with ants and stuff though, lol. I know people have a problem with this, but I think if we want our pets in Heaven, then they will be there. Personally, besides my relatives, I'm looking forward to meeting some of the apostles. And Rahab, Ruth, Jael...

Yes, I think there will be lots of interesting people to greet, meet and talk to.

I think paradise/utopia can very much exist here on this "plane" or level of existence, for life is what you make of it, either a heaven or hell. But yes, I'd like to think that there is some otherworld we go to when we pass on and make the grand transition and that it's a place where all get along despite their differences of who or what they are...and MOST definitely I would love to be greeted by all my "babies" ...my pets that I've had in my life...and I'll be mobbed! LOL

Whether in our material Universe or in some out of the world existence the concept is definitely not going to work, since how at any place can there be only wealth, happiness and merriment in abundance. Even if the same is about to set in, we humans would not let it stand for long in peace and harmony.

I agree that humans do seem to do a good job at messing things up! I, myself, do believe in an afterlife and I like to imagine what it would be like. Thanks for the reply.

Welcome to myLot! Are you saying that we can experience some moments of paradise during our lives? I can certainly recall some times when I felt like I was in paradise. Thanks for the reply.

my paradise on earth....imagine yourself on a small boat in the middle of a dark blue lake. Towering snow-capped mountains lay infront of you, and a green forest lies behind you, both refelected in the clear water. You find yourself in that boat rocked gently from side to side by a warm breeze and the best part of all....silence.
Personally that's my paradise on earth, if heaven has anything better to offer I say bring it on, forget the golden streets.

I think that paradise is anything that is not here on earth. There is way too much violence here and I think that if there was a place with no violence that would be paradise.

I always understood that Heaven was where God resides and that if you get to go their and be in His prescence then nothing else matters....not friends, rellos and not animals. To be in the prescence of the Supreme being, would be the be all and end all of existence.
Utopia is a state of perfection. Perfect health, perfect love no hatred, no wars, plenty to eat, not being ill or over/underweight. Everyone at peace, no greed or war. There would be no bad weather, no extinction. People would die but peacefully. It's all a bit silly really....lol.

I think your idea of paradise is good, especially the perfect love part.

It won't matter where I go because the paradise is inside me..It's there so I either take it with me or not..I just mean that our attitude and moods can make the most wonderful of places a dreaded place while even sitting on a rock in the middle of no where can be utopia if our head is in the right place..Sorry Sweets, I'm tired so hope I have made sence.

I like the idea that we can create our own utopia in our attitude. I understand what you are saying.

That is strange, I have been thinking about the same thing yesterday.
I too like the idee of all my animals being there.
I donĀ“t think that Paradise is here.
I beleive this life is a learning prosess.
When we are finished, we go further, be it Paradise or Heaven or whatever.
I do also beleive we will be surrounded with loved ones and lots of love.
But, for know we must make the best of life here.
"Our own little Paradise on earth." So to speak.
(((To stop the learning prosess, can be very dangerous. We could end up standing still in time, no forward and no backwards .)))
Take care.

utopia is a place where everything is good for the heart. no fighting. no more trying to make a living because everything is readily available. there will be endless parties with people dancing, singing and entertaining each other. the host of this party is unknown/unseen but people enjoy anyway. there are children. playing, sleeping -- everybody gives a hug freely. people care for each other -- to the point that they not only bring you food, but also feed you and you in return feed them. there will be lovemaking, with out other people minding. and will see the love making as plain act of love.

Utopia is a fictional island in the Atlantic Ocean, written about by Sir Thomas More as the fictional character Raphael Hythloday as possessing a perfect soci-politico-legal system. The name has come to mean an ideal society. The term is sometimes used perjoratively, in reference to an unrealistic ideal that is impossible to achieve and has tagged along with it another concept reffered to as dystopia, which is a negative utopia, in other words, a totalitarian and repressive world. This is how I understand it.
