Hi, hope anyone could shed some light on to this subject that I've read at my email it goes like this:
"It is nice to have a cup of cold drink after a meal. However, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed. It will slow down the digestion. Once this "sludge" reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food. It will line the intestine. Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer."
Any comments on this??? Thanks

That would only make sense if your body wasn't able to regulate its own temperature. Cold water gets warmed up in the digestive system often before it even reaches the stomach, but in all cases, way before it leaves it. Cold water is natural - most natural sources of water are cold. If it was all that bad, the human race wouldn't have survived this long.

Oily food is fat, so there is no "turning" involved, and if there was, water would not be the thing that "turns" it. As for the solidifying, well, really cold water might do some of that, but it does not slow down digestion enough to have any serious effects I would think. For one thing, the solidification of oils by cold water would be entirely reversible, meaning, once your body temperature equilibrates the water temperature, the water will no longer be cold enough to keep the oils in a solid state, and that equilibration is going to happen pretty fast simply because your body is programmed to do that, it's because we are warm-blooded, there's no stopping it, so I hardly think there would be any reason for oils to remain "lining" the intestine long enough to cause any kind of problem, due to drinking cold water. Maybe if you drank a refrigerator! I'm just kidding! LOL I also don't believe that slowing down digestion could be a cause for cancer, I'd need more evidence before I believe that.

That sounds really ominous... I'm not really sure if the whole thing is entirely correct though. Yes, cold water can aggravate your colds or your cough but I don't think it can really cause that much damage in your systems.
