Where do the lids go?

I have tons of bowls with lids in my kitchen. All different sizes, shapes and brands. Somehow, I always end up with more bowls than lids. I have 2 or 3 of the same ones, and I always come up short on lids. How does this happen? Where do they go? Are they hiding with all the lost socks from the laundry?

I used to have the same problem Sillychick. I solved it easily. Fortunately, I have the space to keep my lids attached to the bowls. I stack them neatly in the cabinet. Now, when I go for a bowl, I always have the lid that goes with it - even those little butter bowls. While it might take up a little more room, it's so easy to find the lids if they are already on the bowl when you go looking for the right size bowl.

That's a great idea. I'd do it if I had the space. I do keep all the lids together in one spot, or I try to.

There are not many places to put them- small kitchen. I think it's more likely thieves- haha.

I want to know the same thing. i have some good tupperware, but no lids.
I have the same problem w/ gloves. I always find the one, but can never find the other. And when I do find the other, i can't find the one.
You know they have these plastic things that you put a pair of socks on while you run them through the laundry. I think you can get them at the dollar general or something. anyway they work really well. except for baby socks. there's no stopping those from disappearing.

I have the problem with gloves too, but not as often. I'm not too proud to wear mismatched gloves if I'm just going out to shovel. Mismatched bowls and lids don't work as well.
As for baby socks- my trick is to put them all in a mesh lingerie bag in the wash.

HaHaHa, I understand what you're talking about...I'd like to know myself where the socks go to...maybe sock heaven.
My daughter has quite a few of these bowls and what she did was number all her bowls and lids. She put a #1 on the first bowl and did the same with the lid. Now at least she knows which lid fits what bowl. I thought it was a pretty good idea although I don't have that many to worry about.
Now where they disappear to I haven't a clue, haha....cute discussion because it happens to all of us.

Great idea for matching the correct bowl and lid, especially when there are similar ones lke I have. However, when lid #1 is missing, bowl #1 still has to wear a plastic wrap hat.
