I know other people notice this, at least a few have said something around me about it. I'm wondering if any of the rest of you notice it, and if you know WHY it happens. I mean, besides the electronic impulses in the air.
Sometimes speakers just start making funny noises. Almost morse like rhythms. Now, they always do it just before my cell phone is going to ring, but there are other times they just do it.
This morning it happened so loudly on one of the radios in my bedroom (that is set to no sound because the cats kept turning it on) that it roused me from a pretty deep doze.
Help me, this is driving me crazy (tho I'll admit its a pretty short trip.)

I believe its called "feedback".
You can read more about it here.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feedback
It will happen when your cell is attempting to connect to the cell network for updates at regular intervals or when there's an incoming call or message for you.
It will also occur when your cell phones is changing cell base stations.
Nothing you can do but to turn off your radio or your cell.

my phone has done this ever since i have owned it. My sister used to keep her phone in the cupholder in her car (under the radio) and it would do it through the car speakers just before the phone would ring.
my husband gets freaked by it, i just think of it as a "pre-ring".

I have the same problem. It used to happen all of the time and it would make the sound through my televison too. I turn my phone off during the day time hours. My speakers on my computer make the same noice when my cell phone is about to ring. I move my cell phone as far from my computer as possible and it seems to help from getting that galloping sound through the speakers and tv.

I'm afraid that it is just electronic waves emitted by something nearby. My cellphone does the same thing to my computer speakers. What is really fun is when the speaker picks up sounds and voices from the neighbor's baby moniter!
Larger speakers usually have filters to prevent picking up radio signals from other than their receiver. But at church there will occasionally be a CB radio voice picked up on our speaker system. It can be funny sometimes. Once the pastor was praying and paused. Then the speakers broadcast "come in Spiderman, come back?"
It kind of broke the mood - grin.
