Not many people seem to know a lot about the Baha'i Faith. Which I find sad because the Faith is such an essential part of my life and brings me so much joy! I am wondering what people do know about the Faith and what questions do you have about the Faith?

I have visited the Lotus Temple many times. I have also heard someone come to a workshop to teach us about Faith. But there are certain things I don't understand when the guy said... it's a question which you may not like to be asked so I shall refrain from asking the question.

The guy said that Christianity was relevant at one point of time, and the Islam was relevant at one point of time by 'replacing' Christianity. And Christianity 'replaced' Judaism. And the latest religion Islam was 'replaced' by the latest religion Bahai... I wonder when do we put to stop all this 'replacement'? I hope I don't offend you. This is a thought that pops up. I did not ask him thinking he might get offended. You need not answer if you don't like to. I am just expressing my curiosity. I hope you won't take it negatively.
with regards,

I do not know what the guy said to you but keep in mind it may have been his personal interpretation of scripture not an actual teaching of the Baha'i faith. Feel free to ask the question, I cannot garentee that I will be able to answer it but I will not feel any different about you because you asked it, whatever the question is and I will try to answer it as accurately as possible. If you do not want to put it here I have sent you a friend request so you can send me a private message if you prefer.

I do not find your question offensive at all. Thank you for asking. I never really thought of the religions as replacing one another. I see them as necessary stepping stones. Judiasm, christianity and Islam are still necessary and all of their teachings are still applicable today. Without each one we would not have the next one. The reason that new manifestations appear and thus new religions are intiated is because humanity has moved away from the teachings of the previous manifestations and has become corrupted and needs the guidance of a new manifestation. Of course, some people are still loyal to the manifestation. But the majority are not following the true teachings of the manifestation. Furthermore, humanity has evolved and therefore is able to understand more than the people who lived when the previous manifestation came. God wants us to know as much as possible so God sends a new manifestation whenever we are able to understand more. So, to answer your question, new revelations will only stop occuring when humanity stops moving away from God and stops evolving, which may never happen, I am not sure, humanity may eventually evolve to a point when people stop moving away from God and progress is no longer necessary but that will not be for a long time. I hope this answers your question. Let me know if you have any other questions and thank you for your post!

I am glad you find it interesting. Have you read Baha'u'llah and the new era? I think it is a really good summary of the faith.

I've heard of the Baha'i Faith, but I don't know much about it at all. I believe the religion is big on unity and peace and equality, is that correct? I would love to learn more about it!

Yes, Baha'is believe that all people are equal no matter their race, color, culture, religion, gender or any other factor. Baha'u'llah (the founder of the Baha'i Faith, considered a messenger from God) says we are all "the fruits of one tree, the leaves of one brance." The purpose of the Baha'i Faith is to create unity and peace through education. We believe that if people are educated about all religions, races, etc. then they are far less likely to discriminate against another person. Of course, unifying the world in its current state is no easy task but Abdu'l-Baha (the son of Baha'u'llah) says "we must all strive with heart and soul until we have the reality of unity in our midst". Many of the writings in the Baha'i Faith emphasize the equality of women and men. The two genders are seen as the two wings of the bird of humanity. Without both wings the bird cannot fly heavenward. We also work to promote peace between individuals and countries. Abdu'l-Baha says "When a thought of war comes, oppose it with a stronger thought of peace, a feeling of hate must be destroyed by a more powerful thought of love." We do not believe in vengenace. If one person wrongs another, the person must forgive the wrongdoer. However, it is the responsibility of the community to protect the wronged person. Therefore, the wrongdoer should be punished by the community. The Baha'i Faith also believes that the messengers upon which each of the world religions are based are true messengers from God. However, these teachings have been manipulated by clergy over the years, that is why they seem to conflict. For this reason, there is no clergy in the Baha'i Faith. Is there any other questions you have? If you would like more information www.bahai.us is a good source or if you would like a book on the Baha'i Faith, I would recommend "Baha'u'llah and the new era" which is a summary of the history and teachings of the Baha'i Faith. Or of course you can ask me more questions. :)

hello jayman. The concept of humanity being one race is a prominent teaching in the baha'i faith. I don't know if I made that clear in my last post. I used the word race as many people today understand race to explain a concept but Baha'is believe their is only one race. Good luck with your search.
