does "talking about it" sometimes make things worse

I know that the current thinking is that venting is good for you and that it's harmful to bottle up your emotions.
But do you sometimes feel worse after letting it all out?
I find that there are certain things that bug me, where if I try to shrug it off I soon get over it. Whereas if I give voice to my complaints I start to stew over it, and I find that I end up being even more upset!
What is your take on this?

Hi onesiobhan, I believe it depends on the situation. It is good to vent sometimes rather than keep things bottled up, but it's the way we do it that causes problems. We should always give some thought to what we are going to say, otherwise, we'll only create more trouble. If on the other hand, we just feel like complaining, this might be the time to keep quiet. Blessings.
