I realized that I needed some sort of relief from physical and mental pain today. So, Impicked up my guitar and it helped quite greatly! Wow, the power of playing or listening to music. I even wrote a complete article about it! Checke it out @ Hubpages-"Music-Ifelt no pain."

I've found music to be a great healer myself. It's quite relaxing and a lot of songs really speak to me, and others in general sometimes which really helps you get out emotions or just realize you aren't alone.

Hi Bigfrank, I'm on Hubpages, too, as "Guru-C". I've been dealing with mild-moderate depression due to menopause, and for which I'm prescribed Effexor. Because the Effexor was making me very tired, I asked my Dr. to take me off it, but she suggested lowering the dose to start. I'm still tired and also a little more depressed, but not horribly so. Nevertheless, sometimes I feel very bummed out. The evening before last, I decided to take a walk to see a friend of mine in the hospital. I was in a terrible mood, and thought a walk would help. I set my i-pod to a live concert by jazz basist Stanley Clark, and by the time to reached my friend, I felt on top of the world. I think the combination of exercise and music is a winner.

Music helps me a lot as well when I am depressed. For me though especially when Im so down to the point I cant relate to others, its my escape. I use my IPOD at full volume so when people try to talk with me, I can pretend I just didn't hear them. As they say music comes from the soul, its like poetry, there will always be some song or poem that matches the mood that you are in. You're lucky to be blessed with being able to express yourself through playing your guitar. That's one of my frustrations, im tone deaf, and therefore can't carry a tune, but I love to sing. hahaha to the detriment of my friend's ears. Have you ever tried writing a song when you feel depressed?

when i was a little boy,i just liked the music and rythem of the songs, which can change my moods.i can not understand the meaning of the song, without getting the essentiality.now i would say the essential element of aong is lyric.i would be moved if the lyric describe the mood of me,i can calm down with a soft song when i am in depression. and i think the significance of songs is to make people be happier,be strong, and understand life better. they can note the all moods of human beings and you can find some of them expressing the mood you are having now.so you will feel comfortable with listening to songs.

My moods often go up and down. Most times when I am feeling down, depressed, or just feel like secluding myself from the world, I turn on music. The mood I'm in dictates what I listen, but when I'm down I just usually turn on one of my favorite rock bands like breaking benjamin or 30 seconds to mars. In an hour to two my mood is lifted and i'm ready to start anew. I have always found it amazing how much music has been able to help me. And i bet that if i learned to play and instrument thats its power would be even greater.
