Do you prefer luxury or cheap cell phones?

I prefer the lower tech side of cell phones. The cellular phones that are comming out nowadays are not built to last long maybe a year or two. So I cannot justify to myself going into the store and extending my contract and paying a big chunk of money for the companies brightest and best phones. The phones that I tend to shop for are very practical and every sales agent I have ever had for phones has laughed at me when I say " I want one of those phones that makes calls out, recieves calls and does text messaging... and is cheap". I think we need to see things for what they are a phone is a phone and rightly so should be in the end a phone. I have other devices to play games on that are better, to play music on that is better and so on so I would not pay extra to have it in a phone.

I do not use the cell phones. But I was asked to buy a cell phone for my wife. While I was watching the price range and model range, I selected a medium type which is not very cheap in the meantime, the model is a not expensive and luruxy type. all she wanted is a functional model.
