My sister in law had a beautiful baby boy last week, I couldnt believe how fast she was delivered of him, 15 minutes!! She just about got to the hospital in time, and her waters had not even broken properly, she hardly had any pain either! He was her fourth child, I couldnt believe how quickly she had him. I thought my fourth child came quick, I was only in labour with her for a couple of hours and I thought that was quick! So does anyone else have a faster delivery? Or How long did it take you to give birth? Did you get to the hospital in time or did you not even know you were in labour? I'd love to hear some of your experiences.

wow that was really fast and without much pain too. that is a dream labour. grins. for me, i don't know, they consider it fast too but for me, it felt like ages as i'm sure most of you'll tend to agree. i was admitted at 12 midnight exactly. for the first 2 hours, i just had contractions but no pain. around 2am, i started to feel pain slowly and then fast. had the pain for more than 2 hours. i delivered my son at 0445.
i wasn't in labour initially. my son was a premature baby. i noticed that my panties kept getting wet like i had urinated on it a little but i didn't think i did. at that moment i was talking to my mom. so i told her and she told me water could be leaking so i called one of the nurses who said that i had better get to the hospital. that was around 10.30 atnight. while doing the admissions, the nurse there said that they'd try to stop the leakage and if possible keep the baby in longer. i agreed, stood up to go to the delivery room, took a few steps, and whoosh, i felt my wet skirt. i didn't feel it bursting. i just felt wet around my lower body especially the thigh area and saw that water was leaking. so then, the nurse said, ok then you gotta give birth. goosebumps started then. hehehe

Yes it was fast I was quite jealous, all mine were longer and much more painful (well it felt like that at the time!!) My longest labour was 3 days, but that was the first child, he managed to put me off wanting anymore for another 8 years ha ha. You said your boy was a premie? that must have been a bit scary, I started going into labour at 31 weeks with my daughter it was scary, they gave me steroids to try and bring on her lungs, the little devil then held on to full term!! Boy were those steroid injections painful.

wow for 3 days??? that's way long. are those steroid injections the ones put on the thighs?? if so, boy do i remember them too. they were really painful, i agree with you. hahaha no wonder you were put off of pregnancy for that long. for me, yep he was a premature babe but though the doctors wanted to induce him earlier than the due date, he decided he wanted to explore the world even earlier. thus, tada. hehehe

I only have one and it took 13.5 hours from the time my waterbroke to delivery my son. He was 8 lbs 10 oz. They say that the time it take usually goes down.
This was not the case for my mom. When I was born, I took 17 hours and was 8lbs 15 oz. My Brother was a ceasarian because he was sideways. When mom was preggo with my sister, she had pregnancy diabetes My mom took 36 hours to delivier my sister and she was 10 lb 13 oz. I could not imagion pushing her out. OMG!
How big was the baby? Congrats for the new addition to your family!

that is the nice thing about other people's babies, you dont have to change them. He is a small one but atleast he's not too small. A girl i used to work with had twins that were 3 lbs 15oz each. they was so small and talk about looking like dolls! Luckily they were both healthy.

Wow thats nearly 11lbs! I bet that made her eyes water!! Thank you he was 6lb 3oz and he is so tiny I have never seen one that small, all mine were 7lb babies. When I first saw him he just looked like a doll, lovely, but it was nice to be able to hand him back when he filled his nappy!!

I have had four children each one quicker than the first. All of my babies were premature, which was good for me because I couldn't possibly deliver any bigger than 6 pounds or so I was told. I was concerned when my my first son was born small. He only took about 45 minutes from beginning to end. When he was born he had to be put into an incubator and fed by tubes and he was also born jaundiced so he had lamps over his bassinet as well. He weighed only 4lbs 14oz.
My second child was a girl. She didn't give the doctor enough time to be ready, I got to the hospital and was put straight into a room, but the nurse at the time said I wasn't in labor because my water hadn't broke. I told her to get a doctor or deliver the baby herself. It took her 15 minutes to get me a doctor, He came in sat by my side and asked what the problem was. I didn't even look at him and just said catch. My daughter burst forth breaking my water doing so. To this day I have no idea what the doctor looked like. He just stuck his hand out caught her, cleaned her, cut the cord and all the rest. Pretty much from beginning to end it was 20 minutes and she was a healthy 6lb 1oz. I do have to admit my 3rd child took a bit longer because of stupid nurses he should have been born in 5 min, but the nurses didn't believe me and refused to get me a doctor for 6 hrs in which time my son was dying, no matter how much I told those idiots otherwise they wouldn't listen, finally someone hooked up a heart monitor and couldn't find a steady beat, the called my doctor finally who took one look at me and turned the baby around because he was coming out feet first and in a lot of stress, after that he took 2 minutes to come into the world alive and healthy weighing 4lbs 15oz.
My fourth and final baby didn't wait for nobody. My water broke, her father called ahead to the hospital for my doctor to meet us, as soon as I walked through the door was on a bed she made her entrance. It took maybe a minute from start to finish. she weighed a healthy 5lb 5oz. Now they all range in age from 13 to 7. And you couldn't tell any of them were born early, they are all average healthy kids and all smart as a whip too. Labor pains? Had none really no even with my 3rd child. I just had instincts that there was something wrong and not matter how much I screamed for a doctor all the nurses insisted they were right. I was actually told at one point to be quiet because I was scaring another mother who was a first timer. To which I said I would be quiet if they got me a doctor, it was pretty much a battle of wills of who was right and who wasn't. In the end every single nurse who had attended me at the time was fired for incompetence and almost loosing 2 patients, for my health was going down hill as fast as his was. Other than a few dumb nurses my labors was smooth sailing to the point all the doctors were dumbfounded.

My first laybor was bad. I was there over night and they had to stop the laybor because of the heart rate. It was a back laybor because the baby was face up. But my second child I had her within an hour. After laybor with a baby in the wrong position I didn't think I was in full laybor with the second so I stayed home and watched t.v. Then suddenly the contractions were only 3 minutes apart and we went in. The midwife just laughed and said your 10cm dialated. I was like "what?"
