I will go to Italy for a few days, next week. Can anyone recommend me some recipes that I should taste?
Keep in mind I like all types of food, except recipes garlic, onions and mushrooms. I like pizza, chicken, sea food, etc.
Give me some names and I'd make sure to try them out when I get there.

Hi DarkAng!
I'm Italian so I think I can help :).
It's important to know in which part of Italy do you go coz every part has their own speciality.
For example in the cities near Naples (like mine) we are good at making pizzas and typical sweets (zeppole, sfogliatelle, tiramisu etc),in Rome there is "pasta all'amatriciana" (pasta with tokens of beacon), in Milan the "cotoletta" (fried steak ) etc
The pizza is good everywhere (even if the best is where I live). You can try Margherita (tomato & mozzarella), Siciliana (tomato, eggplant & olives), Caprese (fresh tomato &mozzarella). My favourite is potatoes&mushrooms but you don't like mushroom :)

Sorry, I forgot to add the place where I'm going. A small village near Rome. I think it's 20 minutes away from the capital. So probably I will spent all my time visiting Rome. I also want to go for a few hours to the seaside, people told me it's quite beautiful there.
Ok, noted down pasta all'amatriciana, pizza caprese. What else you have for me? Gelato? Is that even spelled correct?
And I think I made an error. It's dishes, not recipe. Realized that right before I submitted it but I don't have an edit button.
Thanks so much for the help, Rowenda!

Sorry, I was busy these weeks and I didn't have the time to answer properly.
But I bet your trip is already finished now :)
In Roma also the speciality is Saltimbocca , a sandwitch with ham, beaf, butter and other ingredients I don't know. It's very good.
For first dishes also try "pasta alla carbonara" or "pasta alla arrabbiata"
Gelato is Ice Cream in Italian. IMHO It's better than the ice cream in other countries so you have to try it. There are dozens of tastes you can try, Stracciatella, Nocciotella, Vaniglia, Ricotta e Pera (Ricotta&Pear). So many of them

Wow, all these names sound so tasty. And I almost forgot about lasagna, man I have such a long list. I'm noting them down, and will make sure to try them.
Thank you biker!

Did you say you don't like garlic and onions? If this is true then you better not bother with Italian food as most basic Italian recipes include onions and garlic, except for maybe pizza. I can't imagine cooking without either one. You could cook and leave those two ingredients out, but it just wouldn't taste right or as good. Good luck!
