I've noticed lately that either there are are a lot of really old folks on here or some of you are posting an age for the heck of it on the profiles. Are you really 88, 95, etc? Do you use your real age, no age at all, do you even care? Do you think it affects the response to your discussions? just curious today...Whit

I use my real age. I'm sure some of the ages I see on here though probably aren't real ages.

My real age is in my profile but I have seen some that say the person is in their 80's yet they have children abount 13 years old at home does not seem likely.

That's my real age. I have no qualms about people knowing how old I am. I only worry about how much they know about WHERE I am. (:D) -Tink

I put in my real age on my profile. Why do I have to lie on my age, its the real me and I usually include, at my age we really dont do it. But even I am older I am still at par with anyone else on any topic for discussions.

hi, I agree with you too. I wonder why I have to lie about my own age. as long as I am connected with anybody in discussion, age doesn't matter.

now i have read your post, maybe i should have made up an age,say 21.only joking.my age is correct worst luck.i actually never thought that any one would make up an age,but i suppose they would.i don't think age makes any difference in how we answer posts, just we may have a bit more experience than some.cheers sue

I've never been cagey about my age. it is what it is.
I don't think my age affects responses, although I could be wrong. When I respond to discussions, I don't pull up the profile first.

I know I posted my real age... I don't really think it has anything to do with the response to discussions. I see really good discussions are usually affected by the ratings number (and number of responses) a discussion starter has.
It seems the "younger" generation (those newer to myLot - not younger in actual age), as a generalization, tend to give short, choppy, one sentence or one-word discussions or answers, not really anything of true value.

I believe short answers are given the same credit. Then, if friends rate it... they move up, not necessarily for value, but for popularity. (My sister is on a similar site... something about "hot" girls, and she has all her friends vote for her!) Lol!
We all value true thought and perceptions, but again... this can be a popularity contest, for some, and not entirely merit-based.
By the way... good topic!

I am not that old really :) Anyway, I am happy to use my real age. I think it would help with conversating with other people in myLot.

well, yes, I put the real age on my profile. I am 27, will be 28 this year. I don't know about the others here whether they put the real age or not, and honestly, I don't think that age will affects the response to people discussion because as long as we are connected to the topic, the responses will still be great. whether they are old or young, because each person has their own opinion to be shared and to be heard. I think their thought and shares do count, not the age.

I use my real age on my profile. I dont think it affects the responses to a discussion. People are hear to make money and make friends so Im sure they dont care about the persons age either.

I use my real age in my profile. Sometimes I do think it affects the responses I get in my discussions because I notice that a lot of the users here are a bit older than me. So there my not be a connection in the topics I choose to write about.

I change my age according to how I feel... not all the time, but often. A lot of it is convincing myself... sometimes when I feel old and bedraggled, I'll change it to 99... then sit and be amazed at how good I feel for someone so old!LOL!!
