I feel the need to be a kid again!

I feel like being an adult is so overwhelming at times that one needs to just take time to be a kid again! If there were leaves in my yard, I'd rake them into a pile and jump in them like a kid! (of course, it would take every neighbor I have to get me up off the ground!) Or if I could find any mud outside right now, I'd go squish my toes in it like a kid! Do you ever have days or times when you just want to be a kid again?! What do you do?

I often feel like that too. Even though I'm going to be 59 this year, I often have periods where I like to do things I did when I was a kid. I still climb trees now and then (mostly to rescue the frisbee or badminton birdie). Last summer I tried to teach my grandson how to hula hoop, and showed him how to ride a skateboard. (Don't think I have the same balance anymore, I almost killed myself with the skateboard...and then it became a lesson on how you have to be careful lol) Every year my daughters (29 & 33) still have our yearly cartwheel contest just to see if we can still do it. Thinking on it, it's a danged good thing that nobody can see our backyard, they'd probably be calling the guys in the white coats with the wrap-around sleeves hahaha. I built my grandson a big sandbox last spring, all summer we took all his excavators, dump trucks and all and played. Hope I never get too old for this stuff, although maybe I am too old and this is the beginning of my second child-hood...ya just never know!! Can you tell I do NOT plan on growing old gracefully?!

Oh I feel what you are saying about NOT growing old gracefully! I just turned 51 and most who know me are amazed that I am 51. I don't think that I am up to a cartwheel (I'd break every bone in my body I'm sure) but I still go out dancing with hubby and can't wait for my granddaughter to be old enough to play with (she is only 1 year old). Of course, she lives 3 hours away which will make it hard, but when I get the chance you better belive I'll be playing up a storm!

I walk in the rain and splash in puddles...wade in creeks and play with my dog. I can be a demon with the hose on a hot day too. I see nothing wrong with fun and laughter and I so believe in the saying ... "We do not stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing." Live long, play lots my friend.

I pillow fight with my daughter and her cousins.I dance to to them with only my shorts on.I sing along with them.I always fight for the window sat in the trains and planes.I just make shapes with my shampoo lathered hair in front of the bath room mirror.I need to be an adult again.lol

Being a 'kid' again is a great way to relieve stress. I like to just be silly, and just go with the flow. Once my husband and I were taking a walk on a clear winter day, the ground was covered with snow, and I decided to throw a snowball at him. We ended up having a snowball battle, giggling like two school age kids, then we made snow angels.

You and I both!! I wish I can turn back time and be that little girl again. Where all I had to worry about was waking up eary on Saturdays to catch all of the cartoons. And later on, wait to eat Momma's good home cooking. I miss those days where I didn't know what bills and money meant. I wish Momma can just make it all better again. Sighh....... now.. I have to make it all better again for my daughter.

I get like that quite often actually, and I find having a bath with my nine month old daughter a good way to get rid of stress. We use squirty toys to squirt each other and have a water fight, and I always feel more relaxed afterwards.

Well if I could be a kid again I would love to go building a tree house in the woods , or snowmobiling ... What I really mis is swimming in my pool late at night in a roaring thunder storm I used to love that ... I know they say not to but I always did it and never thought anything about the danger ... It was so refreshing and relaxing ... I love those days , I would do it now , but livong in a city your not allowed to swim after 8pm , which really sucks ... I would really love that ...

I tell stupid jokes, make puns and I find that bubbles are amazing for letting loose the kid in you. It is also helpful to eat a pbj sandwich, and drink a glass of milk. Reasonably safe, but highly recommended is playground equipment. My theory is that swinging on the swings works the same muscles as sit ups and is much more fun, and if you feel like your job makes you go around in circles, or you feel like you are chasing yourself, or an elusive dream, then pushing a merry go round would be right up your alley. Finally, just slip away from your worries on a slide, and make sure the only ups and downs in your life are on the teeter totter.

LOL LOL! i love this post because i feel like that often. and i am so happy to have a three year old little girl that i can be a kid with. i can play dolls and be silly and tell stories. and when it is just me, i like to put my hair in two ponytails and skip around the house. I like to play in my make up and just be silly. it doesn't happen as often as i would like it to, but when it does it's always a great day. thanks for reminding me to to get out my easy back oven and make some really bad cake for my baby doll tea party

I'd run away from home. I would go play in the water at the river where I was the happiest. Now I would get so cold I would never warm up.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO for it! Have all the fun in the world. There's nothing wrong with being joyous of heart....whatever makes you happy! Make a snow angel, squish your toes in mud, we all need a little more light-heartedness.

I often have this feeling. Especially when I'm in the presence of my nieces. One is 10years old and the other is about 9 months. I always get into kiddie mode whenever I'm with them. But sometimes, even when I'm not with them, I get into my kiddie mode as well. Like this one time with my friends. We were hanging out in the University Courtyard just after taking an exam. There were only 3 of us girls. One of my friends was wearing flip flops and she was taking it off while sitting on one of the benches. Me and my other friend got this devilish grin on our faces and with a nod, it was on. We took one of her flip flops and ran off with it. Playing catch with her in the middle. Soon our other friends arrived and we somehow ended up playing tag. It was drizzling a bit, made it all the more fun. And the girl was pretty good natured about it, so it's all good. It's just fun to be a kid sometimes.

Yeah I'd love to be a kid again, no responsibilities, food cooked for me, cleaning done. Ahhhhh that would be bliss, why did I always want to grow up so fast when I was a kid, did not realise how good I had it. If I was a kid again I would grab a big tarp and place it on a hill and lots of suds and water and have fun sliding down it all day. I would play lots of cool games with friends and ride my bike all day.

Have my food cooked, clothes laundered, get to bed early and get spending money...my best memories when I feel tired (like I do now).

Can I play too? I would love to forget all the troubles in the world including the economy and just relax, carefree. I dont think I have have ever been able to do that in my life. I was the oldest of six kids so I was always responsible for the kids
