PC problems? - laptop pc

I'm using Win XP and I love it but I do have some small problems with my pc. I'm sure most of them are my fault but I'm very careful with everything I do and sometimes I wonder if it isn't the site I'm on at the time that causes most of the problems. Lately mylot has been running very slow for me and there were times when I didn't even get the option to put tag words to a discussion or a response. PC or site problem....I don't know. I clear my cache, do a defrag once in awhile and run my virus/malware programs and always come up clean. I don't have games loaded on it and even deleted those that came with it because I don't use them. What little problems do you come across on your pc? Any? How do you deal with them....can you fix them yourself and have someone else do it?

Well since I have a Mac computer I don't run into the same problems PC users have, and I've heard SO many problems people are having with Vista. I really don't think it's your PC that is slow especially here at MyLot...a lot of us have had this problem with this site being slow, but heck no way as slow as that "other" site many belong to. When I do run into problems though, it seems all I have to do is switch my computer completely off, then reboot, and that gets things up and running again

I have no experience with a Mac but keep telling myself that I'm going to try it someday since they seem to be so much better. I don't know what the 'other' site is but maybe I just log onto mylot when it's very busy.

We did have Windows Vista on our laptop but my husband changed it to Windows XP as it runs much more smoothly than Vista ever did. I found that my computer has been slow on mylot so and I figure its mylot that is having the problem and not my computer. I do pretty much what you do when cleaning the laptop and have still found it to be slow. I really think its mylot and not us!

I think your right. I have been having trouble all morning as the pages are slow to download and the comments are taking longer to post.

I think it could be mylot only because of the amount of members there are here. I'm sure that would slow down any site.

I don't know a lot about pc's other than the small stuff. This is what I like about renting it. When I have a problem I call them and they send someone out to take a look at it and they fix it for me. If they can't then they give me a loaner.

What about trying a registry scanner plus a adware/ malware scan. That should help. Some sites do cause a problem. I dont think there is a site problem because i'm getting it pretty fast here. :) lucky me. Try removing your browser cache and history. Know thats not a great solution but who knows it just might help. Hope it gets resolved soon.

I do use my adware/malware scanner often but I've heard bad things about registry scanners so I'm afraid to try it. I visit very few sites so I really think I just have little problems with my pc itself.

Oh i think we all have a few problems with our Pc at times,i know i do,and i have never found anyone that doesn't from time to time...They are always changing things around, now everything is vista..I think that certain times of the day it is worse..I had a friend to tell me that when school is going on during the day,no problem but when the kids get out of school and everybody is on their computers her's runs slow and she has high speed.....Just think Of all the people online,we are doing good for as many people online...Mine runs really good in the wee hours when a lot of people are not online....

I'm never online late at night but I used to be and I do remember everything running much faster at those times. I'm sure it is the traffic that slows everything down.

I think that having problems just goes hand-in-hand with using a pc, ctry. Usually the ones I get can be solved by a little time and effort. I'm great at troubleshooting, lol. I often download games but delete them when the trial is over. This does call for frequent defrags, but I don't mind. Sometimes things will slow down when there is a lot of traffic on a particular site. If I'm really stumped by a problem, I go to the experts on the message board that I frequent.

I seldom download games since I mainly use gametap and play on their site. I'm pretty good at trouble shooting myself.

Well Win XP is much Userfriendly now. Every one feel comfort on it. I think your O/s have some problem, check your virus, malawares, spywares, delete all your temp files. and reset internet explore. I think Mylot work properly in your PC.

My cleaning solution is threefold. First run an anti virus scan (I use Panda[software.com] free trial available). Run only 1 anti virus at a time!!!!! Then I delete everything in the temp folders and files C:\Documents and Settings\yourname.folder\Local Settings\temp and the last step is a defragmentation of all drives. Works every time. I have 4 disc drives on my machine 2 x 200GB (EIDE) and 2 x 250GB (SATA). I only purge spam and similar garbage, everything else stays. Word files going back to 1990 and email to 1995. They are all there. Disc drives are so cheap, throwing away data doesn't make sense. Just bought another 500GB SATA WD drive for under $100. Best prices through pricewatch.com

I have found mylot to be very slow lately too so I don't think it's your computer. I think there are just so many members here posting that mylot's server can't keep up. I always get the tags question and interest question so I don't know why you aren't getting those, though. I seem to not always get my emails though, notifying me I have responses to my discussions. I know this because I go into them and see a bunch of responses and never got notified they were there.

Well I dont think you should worry about mylot loading up faster because since it has so much in it like so many users, discussions posts after 2 or 3 years or so it would take long to load. It also matters what PC speed you have and of course your internet speed. I just got a new PC 3 months ago and Ive got broadband ADSL and it still doesnt load as fast as other forums or sites but thats because its full. I have got windows vista and so far its working great for me, no problems so far. ALl the best see ya around!
