Actually mental illness is more prevalent in women. Women tend to hide it more and not display it as demonstratively.
In the clinical setting that I worked in, there were more boys than girls, but that was because the girls would be place directly into residential settings, while the boys could be worked with in day treatment settings. When there would be serious acting out, it was generally one of the girls.

I beg to disagree my friend. I worked in National Center for Mental Health and i found out that the mortality is more on MEN even these days more and more admissions came in and they are MALE. Women is more talkative then MEN, thats the RULE OF THE THUMB, and the point is they can easily express their anger and problems, they cry and not bother to show it to people surrounded her compare to MEN.

Boys get angry and then get over it. The girls would plot and plan - and get revenge - always with serious outcome.

I don't know but I worked at a state hospital for mental illness patients, and I think there are just as many women with mental problems!
To me the mind is a very fragile instrument, and it doesn't take that much to get it off balance!
