My husband joined this site for the promise of money, but I actually like it for what it is. It would be great even without the promise of money. I was just wondering how it all works. I am new here and I just want to know how things work. Like how do you get earnings, what do the stars with numbers next to the names mean, what is an interest ranking and how does it work (like I see people with like life level 15 or something like that). A general overview of the website or some tips and tricks would be greatly appreciated.

You'll earn mostly here through posting, either responding or starting your own thread like this. You can also earn through referrals and uploading photos, but you still need to reach 500 posts before you can upload photos on your own discussions.
The stars represents your reputation here as you participate actively, you'll get your star as you reach 100 posts. It has different colors, to distinguish them from one another and they are ranked from 1 to 10 with 1 the lowest and 10 as the highest.
As for interest rankings, you'll get to climb up on it once you add more interests on your lists and participate on discussions that are under it. I believe the ratings you receive from other members has something to do with it, so make sure that you post with good informations and quality.
You'll find more information about mylot through this link, so please do check it and try to understand what this site expects from you..

One thing I would suggest is that you have your husband send a referral to you so that you can sign up under your own account.
This would serve two purposes:
1.) As people read and/or resond to your discussions, they get to know you. If both you and your husband are posting under the same account, it can get confusing.
2.) Also, if you open your own account from your husband's referral, he gets $ for the referral and, as you post and respond to discussions, I believe he gets $'s from your participation.
