Okay February 11th just happens to be a very special day for someone here...It's her birthday....Yes, she's a friend to many of us here at MyLot, and I'm speaking of none other than our good friend Goodie. So I'm hear to publicly wish her a very Happy Birthday and hopes she has many more. There is a MyLotter named Goodie Who sure knows how to shake her Boodie She can spin and turn And make the carpet burn She knows how to make us laugh and smile And with her friendship goes the extra mile That let's us know how blessed we are To have a friend like Goodie, our star Okay I'm not Emerson as far as poetry. That was a spur of the moment bit of poetry on my part. Anyhoo...Happy Birthday Goodie. To turn this into a discussion...what do you folks do special to celebrate your birthday? Do you go to a restaurant and have a special dinner with loved ones? Do you fix your own special dinner..do you have a cake, special wine, get presents?? Tell us...the inquiring mind wants to know Warning: And you know who this is directed to--Anyone who finds this discussion offensive, get a life.

Oh, i forgot..lol about my birthday, i would prepare some treats myself. I cook for my family and my mom and dad would also prepare something to eat for me. I like it simple an s spent with my loved ones and very close friends only and i'm always happy with that kind of celebration. It's easy on the budget and everyone that i love got to enjoy the day with me.

I am interested to hear if Goodie has plans. To be honest, I do not remember celebrating much in recent years. I think last year we took my son and family out for my birthday. I would love to be pampered and spoiled that day, but you know, I get that treatment now and again, even if it is not my birthday.

Happy Birthday Goodie - birthday cake
Happy Birthday Goodie!!! On my next birthday I'll be 61 in July(the NEW 40...lol)...I'm not sure what's going to be happening this year. It used to be that I would go out lunch with my Mom...and that's not happening any more so I'm really not looking forward to this first year without her. I have a feeling my kids will do something since they seem to be appreciating their old mom more these days...lol...

Yes celebrating my first birthday without my mother was a bit strange for me too, but I did anyway, that was in 2006. Goodie...I'm having too much cake too...think I'm having sugar rushes...or is that hot flashes??...feel the same to me...LOL

Well, Happy Birthday Goodie! Well actually, this discussion is just on time since my son celebrated his 5th birthday today. We brought him to church and later on we went to the mall. We didn't bother to have a party since we haven't got the time to prepare due to our very hectic schedule. But we definitely spend our whole day with our son. After we went to church we went to a zoo in our place and took our lunch there and spend the day in the area watching the animals and enjoying nature. Just after 4pm, we proceeded to the mall, and I hope my friends in myLot will forgive me, I bought my son again another toy. Well I have promised him to buy something for his birthday so It would hurt his feelings if I don't keep my promise. We had a nice dinner in one of the restaurant inside the mall. After dinner, dropped by to a mad made fountain, and as usual my son ask for a 1 peso coin and toss it to the fountain. We really enjoyed ourselves and just now, before I was writing this reply, my son embraced and kissed me telling me that he really enjoyed the day. So there it is, that is how we enjoyed and celebrated my sons birthday....

Hello Pyewacket and HAPPY BIRTHDAY GOODIE!!! I have found that after a certain age it doesnt pay for me to celebrate my birthday anymore. Maybe when I get older I will celebrate making it that far but for now its just another day. Oh, and Pye, I think your poem was nice! Take care, Terry

First off, Happy Birthday Goodie! What do I do special for my birthday? Nothing, usually. This year, I'll be doing a shift at the policing centre. Last time I did a shift on my birthday, there was a bakery on the street, so I bought myself a confection with lots of cream... Unfortunately, the baker retired and closed his shop a year ago.

Well, it's just a 4 hour shift, and I volunteered for it. The bigger shame is the loss of the bakery...

First off, Happy Birthday, Goodie! Insofar as birthday celebrations go, pyewacket, not since I was a kid have I done anything really special to celebrate my birthday. In the past my family has surprised me by gathering together to cook a meal and have little impromptu parties for me, but that's about the extent of it. If I happen to have a bit of money, I will sometimes treat myself to something that I have had my eye on for awhile, lol.

I waited till the 11th (my time) to respond to this one. It just struck midnight!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY Goodie...I know I'm a little early (your time). Well my birthday is a quiet affair...and I'll be happy if anyone remembers it (hubby has started making an effort since the last time). We usually have dinner as a family and that's it. How could I forget....my son makes me a lovely birthday card:) I'm not cooking anything on my birthday and if hubby forgets, I remind him (again) and make sure we go out.

ROTFL!!! I don't know what was funnier! The cute poem or the warning at the end!!! HAHAHAHAHA I don't know Goodie but I'd like to wish her a happy birthday anyway if she's looking :) So... HAPPY BIRTHDAY GOODIE! Mostly it just depends on the year as to what we do. One year we went to Florida as my birthday gift. Usually though we do go out to dinner. Sometimes I get cake from family - got 2 last year LOL. And usually I get presents too I suppose :)

Razcal2267 - I totally agree! Now Pye I wasn't knocking your poetic talent - it was cute and funny :) LOL Nah I didn't eat both cakes! One was an ice cream cake and the other was a regular cake. Luckily we had enough people to finish them both off for the most part. Oh and it was at two different houses LOL.

We do the same thing every year. When one of us have a birthday, we all go out on Saturday, since some of us work, so we all go out - that is my husband, myself, my older son, his wife, the baby, my younger son and probably his girl friend. Whomever's birthday it is gets to chose the restaurant and gets his or her dinner paid for. Oh and there are presents too, but not as much as if it were Christmas. And sometimes we watch a movie on DVd.

Happy Birthday to Goodie. I don't do anything on or for my birthday except what I do everyday. I certainly don't need any reminders about how old I am getting....my body sends those type of reminders on a daily basis.
