just want to say how much I'm loving my ratties.

yesterday they spent a lot of time on my shoulder, and sitting in my hood.
when I ate an apple they kept trying to steal it from me, grabbing it in their dainty little paws and trying to pull it out of my hand.
they're so so so cute and lovely.
rats are good for the soul.

Hiya,
I used to have rats, although that was a long time ago now.. I used to love them too. People used to say rats are dirty creatures but I carried one of my rats with me all day long and not once did she go to the toilet on me, she would stay in my hood or pocket unless she needed to go toilet then shed come out or if she smelled some good food to eat :)
Tanika.

Well it is Chinese year of the Rat so that sounds highly appropriate!

It's been a little while since you posted, but I've been MIA recently, so I'm just responding. Glad you're enjoying your ratties. They really are wonderful animals! We run a rat rescue locally, and it's so very rewarding being able to save rats and find them new homes.
They really are good for the soul. They are great at sensing what sort of a mood you're in, and trying to tone themselves to that level. They're also so fun to watch play, or have hanging out on your shoulder.
Anyhow, glad to hear you're enjoying them - I remember your posts when they were still newbies. :)

i have a pet rat! her name is nosie. She's white with a beige head and two beige spots on her back. I swear shes hyperactive. I take her out and she starts exploring everything! she tried to hide in my bed and sneak off the side. she doesnt like to sit still very long. she loves treats like peanut butter and sunflower seeds and chocolate drops for rats and of course her rattie food! id never trade her for the world!

I grew up around rats because my uncle always had them, so 2 years ago I got my own :)
I now have 3, as one recently passed.
Rats totally make the best pets.
I have mice too, they're cute...but not as eager to be held and such.
