going gray or dye it!

I am 47. I have been told I look very young for my age. I'm not just saying that or actually believe it. When people find out, they all have the same reaction: "I thought you would say 32. What products do you use?" Anyway, the one thing that really reveals my age is my hair. I am so gray (grey). I hate dying my hair. I am tired of it; however, when I see the gray coming through, I go get my roots done. I have noticed more older models wearing their gray loud and proud. I am divorced and still haven't found a replacement. My question is this: Is gray attractive to you? When should a woman can the hair dyes and just let the gray show??? I know this isn't a world changing discussion, but I would love to know what you males and females think. Thanks!

I'm a "young" 61...lol...and I would love to keep my hair gray or even white IF it were all the same color. The women in my family tend to go gray in streaks and we look like skunks if we don't dye it. I've been blonde for as long as I remember and until my hair starts treating me better that's the way it's going to stay!

i think grey is fab! it all depends though on who wears it. yes and there are lots of people who wear grey. if im not mistaken, richard gere do wear his hair in that tone. well it all depends on you. whatever color you feel comfortable with. the color that would boost your confidence the most despite the age. you can even try green! for as long as you're happy with it. :)

It depends on what makes you feel better about yourself, but there's nothing wrong with aging gracefully. That doesn't mean you have to act old, but hiding the signs of aging usually means insecurity.
I always think women and men look great with grey hair. A few lucky ones have it come in white. I kind of dreaded it because I was afraid it'd be that iron color that only looks really good if you're dark-skinned but thank goodness it began and stays silver.
My son and I were sitting on the porch this summer while he was visiting and he said "Woah, awesome!!" because the sun was shining on my grey hair and it sparkled. He wanted to know how he could dye his hair to be like mine!
Maybe you could cut your hair really short so the roots wouldn't be so obvious when it begins growing out, if you decide to go natural. If you don't have short hair now, you'll love it. No fussing, no nothing, just wash it and enjoy life. Very attractive on most women, too, from this woman's point of view.

I have always loved the idea of aging gracefully and not fighting it. I have a very healthy lifestyle and feel pretty good. The idea of an extremely short cut has also entered my mind. I would get rid of old dyed hair that has become a pain to keep up and condition, and like you said --just wash and wear. Thanks for your insights and comments!

I am sure that , there are males and females way of thinking. Men will never understand women. They will never understand why Don Juan was so attractive to women and why men despise such type of the seducer.

I am 46, I have real long dark brown hair, with streaks of grey coming in at the temples. I plan on keeping my grey hair, I have earned it. Also I like how it is coming in. The way I figure, once you start dyeing it you have to keep on dyeing it. The roots when they come in look tacky. My grey sparkles and I like it how it shines. It might make me look older but thats ok too, I am a proud gramma.

I'm 48, and I wouldn't even want to know how gray my hair is! yep I keep those grays at bay with coloring it,lol. For whatever reason, men can get away with the salt and pepper or all gray hair better than women can. My s/o (we've been together 3 years) has salt and pepper and it looks great on him, he has commented about why don't I let my gray show through, hahahahaha he is soooo funny. I'm not ready to go gray just yet. There are some woment that have a beautiful silvery gray hair, they should let it show, there are some that look good with some gray peeking through, I'm just not one of them.

I am almost 40 and all grey up front I have what they call a "skunk streak" and everyone I see says Oh that looks so good on you! I went to the local used goods store to buy a blender or something and the lady ringing me up gave me the senior discount! Of course I took it LOL but it got me thinking if that person thought I was over 55 what do others think? Then that got me thinking why should I care what others think about how old I am? Anyway I was going to dye my hair to get rid of the grey but I think I will keep my grey it's part of what makes me ME and I am unique and if grey hair is what I am to have right now then I will be grey and grab those senior discounts! LOL...Amberina

When my hair first start to turn gray I dyed it, mostly because it looked so very very mousy. But I got very tired of dying my hair so I stopped dying my hair and started cutting it short, as it looked better short being salt and pepper than it did long.

My natural colour was a dark brown with hints of red high lights (probably from all the red heads in our family ... 21 on my last count). However, the silver has pretty much taken over. I am actually salt-and-pepper now, or would be if I were to cut off the last 6 to 8 inches that still has my original hair colour. What I really like about the silver is how it shines in the sun light.
I have always found the grey shades to be very distinctive, distinquised, and eye-catching ... especially when the hair is well cut.
I am very poor with remembering names, but aren't there a number of public figures, high profile celebrities, etc. that wear it grey? And they usually have it cut in such a way that flatters their face .
Have you considered a different cut that could accentuate your features in a new way?
