Hey, I'm 11 and when I turn 12 in August, I want to be prepared to go to my orthodontist in October/November. I want to know what treat ment I will need because I used to have an underbite and my top teeth are now over my bottom but my molars are out of place. Being that my top molars are narrower than my bottom ones. Maybe you can teel what else I might need from this picture of my teeth last summer?

I think even an orthodontist wouldn't answer your question specifically until he had taken some nice panoramic x-rays and models of your teeth. I'm glad you're planning on going, though, and it sounds like you're looking forward to having the work done, even if you might be a little scared. I'm a grown-up who didn't get braces until age 25, and it was very worth it then, but you are very fortunate if you'll be able to get braces while you're still young. Just always remember to have a nice smile in your personality as well as on your face. That's what's most important!

Well I just want to know because when I go in to my ortho's for treatment, he just tells my dad breifly (I didn't understand the last time at least-when I was 10)about what's going to happen and just goes on and does it. I want to know what he is doing exactly. I will obviously know when he is finished but I want to be prepared. That means, if it's braces, I have read to take some pain killers with me because I have appointments during school so I cannot go back home. And if I get a palate expander, I will need to eat lots of hard foods beforehand (brush my teeth afterwards ofcourse)because I will not be able to eat hard foods for a long time afterwards, it's similar with braces. I am quite scared but I know it will bring me to having lovely straight teeth. If there's no pain, there's no gain :B

About the scared part of palate expanders- here is a link to a video of someone getting a palate expander, it doesn't look pleasant, but here it is- http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=EJKIDbsobkl

I am not 100% sure because the only problem I had was that I had an over bite (well still slightly do but not getting surgery to fix it). I would think that they would just put braces on you to align your teeth and probably have you wear rubber bands to ensure proper alignment. However, since you other teeth are smaller, you could look into getting them capped so that all of your teeth are the same size and would line up better. But I am not a dentist/orthodontist

Thanks for your answer, I think that it is quite possible that it can be the treatment that I will get. At least there now is a chance that I don't have to wear a palate expander. This is because I have something called house drama at my school, every year in November. THat will be the time that I will get treatment. I love acting and I don't want to miss out on house drama, I want to be an actress when I grow up, either on stage or TV, I just want to act:)This past november, in my houses play, we did mary Poppins and I auditioned for Jane Banks. But I got Michael Banks. (I go to Woodford County HIgh School for girls and that means there aren't any boys to play male parts.)I f I get the palate expander, it will make me lisp quite badly and I obviously wouldn't be able to talk or sing properly. That will then spoil my chances of being in House Drama.I know that it is not yet certain what's going to happen, I think your idea is a definate possibility. Thanks again for your reply:)
