Ok as many of you know,i recieved a laptop computer from my daughter on Christmas, here is the question....She also gave me a mini mouse, that i use with my laptop...I have tried to use my fingers to go around on my laptop, but i find it easier to use the little mouse...Do you use your fingers or do you have a little mouse? which do you find the be better for you? This is the first time i have ever had a laptop,we have a desk computer and that is what i always used until now..Does it take some time to get use to using your fingers? What do you think?

Definitely a mouse!! I can't stand those silly fingerpads - absolutely useless.... I always use a USB mouse with my laptop - I also hate the wireless mouse that doesn't recharge itself - your PC becomes useless when the batteries suddenly run out and you don't have any spares. So annoying!
I have a corded USB mouse for my laptop, and a wireless mouse with a recharging docking station for my desktop. I actually have two desktops, and a gizmo that allows me to use the same screen, mouse and keyboard with both PC's.

I don't care for the little mouse pad on my computer at all, I find it way too slow. I prefer a separate mouse. I had a logistic, but it never did work all that well. I really like the cordless mouse but when the logistic wasn't working well I went to Staples and asked about it. I told the guy I knew my problem was my mouse because I have a corded Microsoft and I have zero troubles. He told me you need a special mouse by rights for the laptops and the logistics was not the right mouse for my computer.

well it will be a problem to use any new product couple of days, but we have to go for it to get used to it. Well i also used to have a problem on the mouse pad of my laptop but i went on using it and now i just move my fingers very easily. If you have important work then go for the external mouse otherwise in your casual time just use the internal mouse pad on your laptop.

I've done both, but in the last few years, I've gone with using a notebook mouse. Some of the notebook mice now come with multiple buttons for configuration in much the same way you can configure the touch pad. I run a program that disables the touch pad while I have a notebook mouse plugged in. That way, when I'm typing, if I hit the touch pad, it's not going to mess me up. Then when I unplug the mouse, the touch pad is enabled again and free to be used. Since I'm still somewhat recuperating from surgery, my laptop is all I use and I use a lap desk to protect myself from the heat. This lap desk has a mouse pad that's attached, but pops out to the side, so it's convenient for me to use it. If I was on the road, then I would just use the touch pad.

I think the trackball embedded in the laptop or trackpad is a big no-no - unless it is inconvenient to bring a mouse with you.
I will always plug in a real mouse and use that instead. An mini-mouse is a no-no too. Unless you find that it is really more comfortable because it suits your hand better. For guys like me, the mini mouse is too small to be handy.

That was so nice of your daughter to get you a laptop! They're much cheaper and easier to purchase nowadays. That was really sweet of her. I have both a laptop and a desktop computer. I like working on the desktop the most because everything is laid out nicely. The keyboard is bigger and easier to use. I like using the mouse a lot. Even a small mouse can be hard to use at times. I have used the touchpad on my laptop, but I think a mouse is much easier. It depends on how much space you have. If you're trying to save space or don't have a desk to set your laptop on, the touchpad (using your finger only) is much easier and more convenient. If you have enough space for your mouse and mousepad, you would use the mouse. Do you have a wireless mouse? I think those are very neat too. Very convenient without a cord! I'm glad you have your new computer. Something new is always nice to have. What a sweetheart your daughter is. Thanks for sharing all of this in your wonderful discussion.

Dear slickcut
in my opinion it's easier for you to work in your laptop with the little mouse for start.
It's not difficult to work with your fingers but at the begining you shoul start with the mouse. It depends of your sensibility with your fingers.

since you were using a desktop fr a long time i think you are practiced with the mouse. If you were using laptop means you would have been saying that you feel the fingers are more comfortable for you. You better start learning to use your fingers rather than mouse. Because you can not take mouse everywhere you go and it wont look nice if you operate with the mouse in front of everyone. i always prefer using the fingers and you will get practice of it soon.....

I use my finger as the mouse on a laptop. Ive never had the mini mouse but I am sure it would be easier than using your finger. But I figured I dont need to buy one cuz Im just so use to using my finger on the touch pad of the laptop that I dont need one.

I use a mouse with my laptop because it's a lot easier to handle than the laptop pad. Since my laptop is the only computer I have and I travel a lot, I like to use a wireless mouse and a wireless keyboard too.

Thank goodness my laptop came with a little mouse. I tried using my fingers and could not get the hang of it.
I don't even try using my fingers anymore. I don't care for the laptop keyboard either. One of these days I'm going to get a second keyboard that's more like a desktop style.

I have a lappy and a desktop, I use the mouse on them both, I used the pad for a long time, but then i find the mouse quicker and easier.
But most the time i cba changing the mouse over to my lappy from the desktop so i just use the pad!
