The Lady doth protest too much!

For those of you who think the quote is, "methinks the lady doth protest too much" you are wrong. The quote is simply "The lady doth protest too much" but since my step brother is more of a (I'm thinking of a word that rhymes with witch) than I am, I find this title for my discussion fitting. He had his first date in like 3 years last night and even though he is my brother and not one of my kids I couldn't help but wait up for him to make sure he got home safely. About 1:45 AM he literally floated into the kitchen wearing a grin bigger than the cat who ate the canary. I just shook my head and smiled. He asked if his "friend" could come in so they could "talk for a while and I gave him my best disapproving look because he knows how I feel about anyone but me getting busy in my house but allowed his friend to stay for a while. When I got up this morning my step brother was passed out on my couch, his shirt was on the floor laying next to his belt and he was still wearing a smile on his face while he was snoring away. I woke him up and gave him another one of "those looks" and he immediately bursts out with, NOTHING HAPPENED, I swear we were just talking. He left at like 5, we just talked and talked and talked, I swear nothing happened. I picked the shirt up off the floor and gave it a whiff and said, "funny, I didn't know talking could transfer cologne to clothes from a distance." His face turned beat red and he knew he was busted. What do you think when someone denies and denies and denies having done something? Do you think the more they deny it the more likely it is they have done it? Do you pick on them about it until they cave in or do you give up and let them think you believe their innocence?

Depends on who the person is and what the situations is. If it is my husband or a close family member, yes, I will pick on them till they admit whatever it is that they have to admit. But if it's family and not my immediate family, I'll let it be unless it's something that happened in my house or would directly or indirectly affect me or my family. I have done that with certain members of the extended family and friends and though I know what they've done, I pretend I believe the lie that they tell me. What they do with their life is their business unless it affects me.

You know what it's not fair that you talk about me like this and then tell me after you post the discussion as if it wasn't that big of a deal (not that it is or anything lol). I hate the fact that you could smell him and I can't but I got to feel him and taste his lips :) lol

awww don't hate on the guy for getting some loving after not having in for so long. Of course he's gonna protest lol.. just like you said its kinda like a kid getting caught doing something bad. If they deny it enough maybe you'll believe it LMAO. Either way I think you should cut him a little slack.. Of course if it happens again..grill him LMAO.

I pick until I get the truth especially if it's someone I know that I can read like a trash magazine. Evidence shows what happened and that's what I go with. I would keep picking you'll get the truth out of him.. By the way- they totally did it, that smile isn't just because...

Oh he caved as soon as I picked up his shirt and smelled his 'friends" cologne on it. They didn't do "that" but they did do something. I casually wiped the corner of his mouth and asked him if they went out for donuts after I went to bed. There was nothing there but the mortified look on his face gave me more than enough confirmation!

hi cynicalandoutspoken oh yes I keep at it until the culprit caves in and she denies and denies then blushes like all get out. yes the more she denied it the more it proved she and her new boyfriend had done it, indeed. I just have some fun with her, no harm, all is well.We were very close or I would not have kept teasing her.
