Many security and traffic cameras are open to the public, allowing you to connect to the video (and sometimes audio) feeds and observe interesting things around the world. I have watched weather come into
harbour in Japan, evening in St Petersburg, Russian Federation, a clerk goofing off in a bait and tackle store up in Northern U.S. office cameras in various businesses, and labs, traffic cameras on major freeways, mountaintop mounted cameras on radio repeater towers, a Bed and Breakfast coffee shop in Europe, and Malls - all over the globe.
Many of the cameras allow you to take control, moving them, zooming in, switching from one camera to another, and even turning on infra red
vision - so you can see at night. NOTE: It is wrong and unscrupulous to zoom into someone's private home -- DO NOT DO THAT!
ALSO: if the camera is password protected for control - DO NOT HACK INTO IT! This is done on some sites because the security of the facility depends upon the camera being controlled by the staff on site!
ENJOY IT RESPONSIBLY.
Here is how to GO THERE.... From your search engine (GOOGLE, ALTA VISTA, IE etc.)
input the following:
inurl"axis-cgi/mjpg" (quotes are necessary)
or:
inurl:"Viewer Frame? Mode="
or:
inurl:"view/index.shtml"
or:
inurl:"Multi Camera Frame?mode="
When list opens, select one and open it. Once you recognize where you are, (some have titles...some don't) you can create bookmarks with site name, as the codings are hard to remember, and do not have
site location names - only url data.
NOW: TO VIEW THE PLANET EARTH from any of HUNDREDS of Satellites
(no you cannot control them!...but you can zoom in or out)
input:
http://www/fourmilab.ct/cgi-bin/Earth?opt=p&img=learth.evif
TO FIND ALL MP3 files on the internet (for ANY given artist or title)
input:
?intitle:index.of?mp3"author" or"title" (In other words after mp3,
you type (Quotation marks) name of artist (Un-quotation marks)
or (Quotation marks) song title (Un-quotation marks)
FAILURE TO INSERT NAME OR ARTIST can result in generating a list of every friggin' mp3 on the planet!!! SO DON'T unless you have a LOT of time to kill.
If anyone knows any other cool urls or command links...LEMME KNOW
as always...BE RESPONSIBLE, HAVE FUN, and do no harm to anyone!
