Where do you draw your inspiration from?

I find when I write, I draw from the things that go on around me on a daily basis. If I try to go outside of my "box", I get writers block fast! That being said, I would love to be able to research and write novels about other things! So, what inspires you when you write? Do you hit road blocks if you go out of your comfort zone? Some days, I feel like banging my head against a wall! :O)

A magical question that each must find their own answer for! It seems that I find inspiration in everything, what I read, what I feel, what I see, what I hear. I try to look at the world through the eyes of "a writer". Everything is interesting, nothing is to be passed up. There is inspiration all around you and plenty of ways to gain "knowledge" about things outside your box! If you feel uncomfortable writing about things you don't know about, then you need to do it more often! Set up a blog specifically for writing about things you wouldn't normally write about. Or make it a point to find one thing everyday, no matter how small, and write about it. It may be the way the clouds hang in the sky; the way the man on your neighbors roof swings his hammer, the bored look on a childs face as he waits for his mother to pay for their groceries. Ask questions. Ask the mailman why he chose to do it, it may provide a story. Ask yourself why the child in the store is throwing a tantrum, or why the mother looks like she is going to laugh. ALWAYS ask the "why" or "what if". Don't be afraid to learn new things, watch the discovery channel, shoes like "dirty jobs" and "modern marvels" can offer inspiration in ways you never thought possible. Don't take for granted ANYTHING around you, keep your eyes and ears open and you will be amazed at the inspiration that FINDS YOU!

I seem to have no control over the creative flow. I will suddenly be moved to write and have had to get out of bed to write sometimes. I have had a writers block lately, I guess.
Not sure where my inspiration comes from.

I simlpy write when I'm into it. Writer's block is more like a pause for undecided ideas. When nothing seems settled, I'd write conflicting ideas until I could decide whether I'd choose one of them or until another better one arises.
Going outside the box, for me, gets me having other alterntive ideas, as long as I could connect them with what I am currently writing.
but it really avries among those who write..

sometimes it in another book I read or show I see. There are times however when inspirations come out of nowhere and these are usually what stick to my mind the most. :)

I think I'll have to say I draw my inspiration from the unexpected and weirdest stuffs and circumstances. For instance, when I get into the bathroom to do my business, an idea just hits me and I have to keep that in mind or else, it won't come back ever again.
I feel the way you feel too! Like banging my head or just racking my brain to get myself into writing? Well yes, I still have writer's block up until now and it's really hard to motivate myself again to write something. Reading is the only thing that still keeps in touch with me though. Currently, I am trying to finish Nicholas Sparks' Message In A Bottle which seems like a good novel to start. But it's so thick so I guess it would be summer until I finish it.
Sometimes I draw my inspiration from real life, or from the songs that I hear. I get a lot from listening - for example there's this particular song that I really like.. and then BOOM, I'll decide to write a story that revolves around the theme of its lyrics. That way, I can incorporate my being as a music lover to my presence as a writer.

Typically I gain my inspiration from my daily despondency.
Also from other pieces of art... Its almost like a reflective inspiration, from what others expressions...
